September Monthly Meet-- Sat. 9/10/05 --4 pm -- Where???
I'm back from vacation--got back last night (sun--8/28/05)
We need to get the September monthly meet going.
Unless there is some kind of special event that we want to tie it in with, It will be the second Sat. of the month (9/10/05) --4 PM in the SW area of Houston.
(The October monthly meet will swing around to the SE side of Hou, so u guys be thinking about a good location and something to do/somewhere to go, after the monthly meet!!!)
ESC already suggested 2 excellent locations for the September monthly.
HOOTER'S
http://hooters.know-where.com/hooter...e=324&address=
SAM'S BOAT -- on opposite side of the Fwy. from Hooter's
(Hey Barry--both allow smokers--and I don't mean your car!)
It has also been discussed that afterwards we go to the every Sat night car show at Otto's BBQ, which is just a few blocks away. There is usually about 20 to 30 cars there.
ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS for a location or for something to do after the monthly met????

I'm there dude!
Hooter's always seems to be a winner and short cruise/show afterwards sounds good. I'm not real sure what is in the area otherwise I'd put up suggestions.

Welcome back home Zap. Was getting a little concerned, didn't know you were on vacation.
I can't make the September nor October meet, I'll be home mid-Oct. I CAN suggest a good spot for the SE October meet though:
League City, Highway 3 at FM 518 (League City's Main Street).
Place is called Mixed Nuts.......Is that not appropriate? Have you been there Rudy?
It's an ice house / beer barn. Big parking lot with shade trees. VERY casual, concrete floors, big garage style open doors, big screen TV's and a real juke box. A casual hangout for bike and car nuts. Smoking is expected (not your car!
)
If not this October, maybe the next swing around. I own a house down the street from there, and will probably move back there within the next year (still available for rent TexasLT1
). I'll be happy to coordinate and host a future monthly there.
League City also hosts a car guy get-together on Friday or Saturday nights, haven't been there in quite a while, but it is just around the corner. Some VERY cool cars show up there. I'll check the city's web-site and get back on that.......OK, wife called the city, car night at the park around the corner is on Fridays.

Did you say you had a house for rent??
The wife and I were looking at houses to rent in the League city area last week. Just missed one as well, weren't quick enough.
Can also suggest the cruise at Chick Fillet on the Saturday night at Kemah, shares the car park with Home Depot.

I'll check out mixed nuts. Always looking for good drinking/car places. Haven't been there yet.
I go to the cruise at the park every other friday. If you go every week you see most of the same cars. There are a couple of nice trans ams and third gens that turn up there. Its packed out on the friday and the marhalls keep out the **** burners.

Do U guys still want to do the "Guess how many thirdgens will show up at the monthly" ???
Do we still want to throw a dollar in the pot for the guess, with the winner take all deal or just do it for fun?
The turnout at the Monthlys has never been what we had all hoped for
, but we WILL continue them. I myself enjoy getting together with other thirdgenners. I personally, would like to get together even more often, but I realize that's not gonna happen! As long as there is ANY interest what so eve,r in doing these Monthly Meets, I will be more that happy to continue to organize the monthlys. I just wish every now and then we could get more people to show up to them.
ANY THOUGHTS OR SUGGESTIONS, ABOUT WHAT CAN BE DONE TO GET MORE TO SHOW UP???
DOES ANYBODY SEE ANY PARTICULAR REASON OR SOMETHING WE COULD DO DIFFERENT THAT WOULD INCREASE THE ATTENDANCE???
It's really strange that there seems to be 3 OR 4 OR 5 hard core Hou area thirdgenners that pretty much show up at every monthly regardless of where it is, and the rest that show up are always different. (usually from the general area of town that the monthly is being held). If we could ever get even 1/2 the thirdgenners in the Hou area to show up at a monthly there would be 20 or more.

After I got through doing some work to Mrs. ZAP RS, it needed to be taken for a test drive, so we deceided to cruise to Otto's to eat some BBQ and check out the Sat night show (which is probably the show we will cruise to after the September Monthly).
Althoughwe go by there every now and then, to my surprise, there was 3 thirdgens there I had never seen before (along with a bunch of cool customs and a bunch of Mustangs and 4th gens)
One of them was a kind of darkerblue, maybe Aqua colored thirdgen Trans Am, that was absolutely beautiful. DEFINATELY SHOW QUALITY, and the guy does show it frequently. It belongs to Bill West--president of the Trans Am club of Hou and I think it was his wife (sorry can't remember her name). They also had a cool 4th gen TA. If they don't go to a show in Wallace, they will try and make the Monthly Meet, or the show at Otto's afterwards anyway. I hope they can make it, so U guys can see how nice a thirdgen can look!!! They are registered here on the board as ROARZ, but do not get on here much lately. Maybe that will change?
There was also a guy named Ron that had an 83 TA with factory crossfire injection, I think it is called (2 carbs staggered intake design). I have only seen pics of cars like this. First time I have ever seen one in person. He is a regular at Ott's and will try and be there next Sat and maybe make the monthly before the show.
Sure hope we can get a good showing at Otto's. Way too many 4th gens there-- we need a show with 3rd gens there!

Checked out mixed nuts saturday night. Looks like a good bar a lot like the Neon moon down in pasadena. Went there after the cruise down at Kemah.
