LS1 swap, Stage 2 heads, 228-230 cam, F.A.S.T. intake. I am also trading the 700R4 for a turbo350. No nitrous for now, I may do the suspension at the same time since I will hold off on the body work for a while.
As far as leftovers I believe it is ESC with the 82 camaro who showed interest in the engine and serpentine setup.

I can tell you that it is no where near the price other shops were quoting me. I can actually use the extra money to do my suspension at the same time. I plan to hold off on the needed body work until I get a house probably in a year. I would suggest to anyone that if you plan on an LS1 swap talk to Owen at ARD, he is a very nice guy and gave me a very reasonable quote for my swap.

4.8 and 5.3 refers to heads that have come off of a 4.8 liter chevy truck v8 engine or the 5.3 liter chevy truck head.
LS-X intakes will bolt upto the chevy truck heads.
Hope that helps.

Smaller combustion chamber/higher compression maybe?

the aluminum 5.7 is a 346ci, the 6 litre is a iron block but a 364 ci. 4.8 and 5.3 heads have smaller combustion chambers but also have smaller valves and runners. stock size in a 5.7 or 6.0 is a 2 inch valve where in the 5.3 or 4.8 is a 1.88 valve

Other differences in the heads are open chambers vs. closed chambers and combustion chamber size.
I prefer the LS-6 heads or if money is no object, C5-R heads.

the only stupid questions are the ones don't know & you don't ask about,.. you don't know this one & you asked, so its not a stupid question
you probably do know it,.. but you just don't realize it
with everything else being even, a motor can breath better with open chamber heads than it can with closed chamber heads because the valves are unshrouded on the open chamber heads.
a lot of people will put on a set of closed chamber heads to bump up compression when they have either dish or flat top pistons.
as far as i know, you can't put a set of closed chambers heads on a motor than has domed pistons designed for open chamber heads. if you have too much compression, you can put open chamber heads on closed chamber designed domed pistons, but that can sometimes cause other problems such as detonation.
if you can view them, here are some pics of BBC open & closed heads.

I myself use a local machine shop called Westside Performance--one of the better shops in Houston. They build a lot of drag and roundy round engines.

I just waited for a 4th gen owner on a local board to wreck. It happens all the time.
They buy back their totaled car and part it out. I got my LS1/t-56 harness for 3k.

Anybody needing performance parts check Thunder Racing by this Friday, they are running a special 10% discount on select items. I just ordered my Tokico illumina shocks and struts, Eibach Prokit, and BMR 3 pt Strut tower brace and saved some money

The YearOne Power Crate 350 has the power you need for the car you love.
The four-bolt main seasoned 350 block has been bored 0.030 over. It uses a nodular iron crankshaft with hypereutectic pistons connected with powdered metal connecting rods.
A dual plane aluminum intake allows good idle quality and excellent street driveability while providing plenty of low-end torque. Ported Vortec cylinder heads, 1.6:1 ratio rocker arms and a hydraulic roller camshaft round out this excellent engine.
The fully balanced and blueprinted PowerCrate 350 has been dyno tested to produce 400-plus horsepower* and 440-plus ft./lbs. of torque* with a pump-gas friendly 9.5:1 compression ratio. The engine comes with a 12-month/12,000 mile warranty.
You will find more features and specifications on this engine, along with an engine test graph, by scrolling down to the bottom of this e-mail.
You can have this YearOne exclusive engine for only $2990.00 (plus shipping).
To take advantage of this offer click Part # CT350PC1, add it to your shopping cart and enter the code EM611 during checkout.
But hurry, this offer ends midnight EST on Wednesday, February 15, 2006.

Not worth much in a thirdgen if you live in the metropolitan areas of Texas. No chance at being emissions leagle.

Yes there are ways around "that" but I have no desire to rip the car apart to run a carburator and toss all of the emissioins in the trash can. I can take it locally and get it inspected (in the family thing) but that is not what I want. Trick Flow heads, LT4 hot cam and headers should get the car to where I want it with the problem being the intake system. The LT1 intake seems to be the best option for performance vs bucks. The only real problem is the egr, I think it was killjoy on here that fabricated a functioning egr connection to the back of the intake. I work with some tube benders that maybe able to fabricate something from stainless for me but I am not far enough along to persue that option. The TPI will have to stay as is until I decide on the best undesirable option.

Yeah the ls1 engines are still up in price. The lt1 seems to be lower lately, there is one on ebay with t56 at a reasonable price and it is killing me, spring bonus check has not arrived. Just have to decide on lt1 or build what I have and the lt1 keeps looking better and better.

ARD?
been reading about ARD in several posts, is this their real shop name or abbreviation. Do they have a web site ??
I had the same question and looked it up. I think someone here used the name. Here is a link. I was looking into there general pricing info for a swap less the drive train hardware but found no info other than a phone number.
