I guess it's about time to get started on the 2006 SF thread isn't it. Crap it's the first of March already isn't it?
Will be at the end of April or first Of May.

So where is it going to be?
Bear Creek and Sealy?
Maybe just at Sealy? HFB used to have a big cook out at the Car Club Bash. Some people would show up to hang out, others to race. Someone had a big smoker on a trailer and a portable car port thing for shade. Over time it developed in to a pretty big affair.

The spring/summer meets we have had the last few years have been on the NE part of town at that park (name escapes me at the moment) and then go hang out at HMP.
That is not etched in stone--as always, it open for discussion.
Where we have it and what we do afterwards--let's hear some suggestions or discussion. If memory serves, the concept of alternating from one side of town to the other, for the 2 BIG meets every year, to make it fair for those around town, as well as varity, comes to mind.
i don't really care, but if it means some will or will not go, I would want to have it wherever the most will attend!
THOUGHTS--SUGGESTIONS???

Also, if u guys and gals think we should do t-Shirts again, it will be a preorder/presale deal. I do not have the money to bankroll getting the shirts done, like I kinda did at the Fall Brawl.
Getting them done will be much easier since we already have a shirt sho on tap--just need to change the info and maybe jazz up the design a little.

I like pocket T's. That way I have a convenient place to put my cell phone or sun glasses.
I also prefer the printed stuff on the back.

I vote for end of April so that its not to hot. I also think it is very good Idea to have the track portion at Sealy since we have had any meets there yet. It is also very easy to make alot of passes there. We can meet at a park somewhere on the way to the track and make a huge event out of it. And I am definetely down for Shirts again.

I vote for Sealy too. I know it is a ways for many, but they have a HUGE grassy area there. Plus a little match racing would be a blast. Ive always thought we should have a meet there, now that they are open again we ought to take advantage of it

So when does everyone want to do it? April is coming up awful fast. I think our best bet would be may which would actually make this a summer meet.

I vote Sealy in April. Cookout and T-shirts.
Haven't been to Sealy yet, and some day time runs would be cool.

Well, Sealy seems to be the popular choice, even if all that suggested it live on the west side. Wheel Spin is the only one not on the west side.
ANYBODY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH HAVING IT ON THE WEST SIDE OF TOWN?
I will get on it right away. I am a little behind with this cause I have been covered up at work, and don't see that changing anytime soon.
If I can work out a deal with Sealy, do we want to have the BBQ/meet/everything there, or do we want to have the BBQ part in a park on the west side of HOU, and then cruise to Sealy? Need to look at the Sealy schedule and see what's going.

I vote for doing it all at the track. It will be easier than setting up twice.
It woulkd be REALLY nice if we could get the racing part done early so those who want can have a beer or two with their food. Then kick back and watch other people race while we eat.
If they are really interested in promoting good will, they may even let us get in some early TnT type runs before the track is open to the public.
I also vote for setting up right next to the track, just past the bleachers. But we will have to be there early to claim a prime spot like that.

Well, CRAP!!! In between the last post I made and this one, things have changed drastically for me. I've kinda seen this one coming, but after talking to a couple of my business associates it has been confirmed.
The short version is, I will have to respectfully step aside from organizing this particular annual meet. Someone else needs to step up and take over as the lead peson to put this meet together. I just plain do not have the time necessary to do it, and do it right!
Hopefully this is a tempory situation, and in the near future things will be back to normal for me, cause I really enjoy putting events like this together. I have done it all my life in other venues, and normally it is no big deal for me to do it.
I will do what I can to help, and for what's it's worth, my experiance doing this, will hopefully will grease the wheels for whoever steps up.
SORRY!!!

The only time Sealy is open on Saturday, is early April. And they'r having an event. Tech cards are $50.00. And because of the event, we won't get to race much. So much for that idea..................
Any other ideas?
Dressen Park and HMP??????? What about Angleton?

So far the seem to be desiding during the week whether or not they will open on the weekend. I think right now they are just trying to get new rubber down on the track, I heard its VERY slippery right now. So far they've been open a couple of weekends and already have a few pointes races committed for April and May, but I'm not sure how they are handling T&T right now.
Also, I'm not sure about BBQ'ing at the track. They have a concession stand, but would just have to ask.

HMP is open, but a pretty full calendar. We won't be able to race that much(IMO). Need some of you to go to the site and see if you agree.

Good news/Bad news:
Bad news is the project/contract that I mentioned earlier has been pushed back 6 to 8 weeks.
Good news I have time on my hands, so I am going to jump in with both feet and get all of the Spring Fling stuff done.
Since this is all kinda running behind schedule, we are going to dispense with some of the formalites and GIT-R DONE! IT'S ALL GONNA TO HAPPEN PRETTY FAST,SO PAY ATTENTION!
We have been thru this before, and we all know the drill, and yes, U will be tesed on this information.
Since a bunch of U wanted to go to Sealy after the meet/BBQ, but does not appear (according to their website) to be open any Saturdays that would fit out needs.....Sealy is eliminated.
Barry, I was able to get on the HMP site and looked at their schedule, and actually April 29th looks pretty good. All they have advertised for that night is Test-n-Tunes and Dragmasters (That is just their normal Sat night show as far as I know-- but I have emailed to confirm this).
Also, for some of U that don't necessarilly like HMP, they have redone the starting line area as well as the return road and ended up with more shut down area.
So it looks like April 29th fits out needs as far as day of the week as well as time getting done before the weather starts getting really HOT.
The last few years we have had the spring/summer meets at Alexander Deussen park just right down the road from HMP, so unless there is a problem I am not aware of, let's do it there!
I am going to close this thread in a few days and start a new one, so the first post will have all the necessary info in it. Please make all comments/replies/suggestions in the appropiate thread!
Thanks + HERE WE GO!!!
