1989 Camaro not starting

Alright guys help me out on this one. I have a 1989 Camaro RS TBI 305 5.0. I was having intermittent start problems but that turned out to be the ignition switch, the car sat for about 8 months. Now i just had the throttle body rebuilt, it has a new ignition module, ignition switch, and fuel pump. I am getting fuel and spark. I can start it with Throttle Body Cleaner and it will fire up and run for about 5 seconds this stall out. I am getting a code 34, which is the MAP sensor. I understand that can make it stall if its out it goes refrencing the TPS. What is making it not start though? Im bustin my brain here guys help me out. It needs a tune up, but it did have one before it sat. The rotor is clean the cap is clean. It wants to start it just can't seem to get over the hump. Am i finally lookin at an ECM now? Thanks.

Fuel pressure is good right??? Since the throttle body was just redone, and now it does not run, I would think that might be the cilprit??? I am not familar enough with that setup to really offer any good suggestions, but if it will run/start with starter fluid, that is a major clue!

What part of town are U in?

Actually U might have better results if U post this question on the TBI board?

Maybe doing a search for others that have had the same problem migh help. iI'm pretty sure others have probably had a similar problem.

Good Luck!

Thanks ill post on the TBI board. It didn't start beforei had the throttle body rebuilt though so it shouldn't be the throttle body. I just checked the injectors with a noid light and they are getting the signal to fire, so that makes this a pressure or mechanical problem and It shouldn't be the computer right? Thanks

Maybe I misunderstand--If U did not have the problem before U had the TB rebuilt and U do have it since, wouldn't that indicate it might the TB?

Sorry, no i DID have the problem before i got it rebuilt. I just had it rebuilt because the gaskets were vulcanized and falling to pieces. Im thinkin i have a problem with fuel pump relay or OPSU.

Hi,

I would check fuel preassure and fuel pump. Also check your fuel filter. Also go around all of the connectors in the engine compartment. Unplug and clean all the terminals on the connectors and plugs. Especially if the car has been laid up for a while.

I drive a 91 305 TBI, had an intermittent idle problem that ended up as just a bad connection. I had rebuilt the TBI changed all the sensors and replaced the computer.

I'm thinking fuel pump or FP relay.

Pump

Turned out the fuel pump strainer was full of varnish and junk. So just replaced the pump and strainer, tuned her up and shes runnin like a charm. I still have to mess with the timing because of the cam but all in all she is a champ again. Thanks all.
