Spring Fling Grudge Matches / Match races

Regardless of how the Spring Fling bracket race elimination ladder turns out, I have a couple of long standing rivalries/scores to settle.

If U have any particular thirdgenners U want to call out for a race for a grudge match or unresolved matches from the past--post it up here.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm calling out 2 of U guys.

Barry85IROC-- For several years we have been trying to settle who has the faster car. Seems like every time we go at it, either something broke, or something happened that prevented us from having a good clean race, with no excuses. Well, that has gone on long enough. If we have to go 2 out of 3 to settle it--then so be it--no excuses, no whining, just racing.

OH YEAH--Barry be sure and clean your winshield real good, so U can see my tailights, when U are following me across the finish lline!

Larry Dunlap Ours cars are probably the most evenly matched cars in the Houston area as far as times--regardless of what those times are--but U have always beat me by 1/2 car length--always ran no more than a 1/2 a tenth quicker or less--until the last time we were at HRP. I actually turned a quicker ET, by I was sleeping on the line, and once again U beat me. My one chance and I blew it. Well, I want revenge. It's my turn now. Bring your A game cause your gonna need it!

It's on like Donkey Kong, biatch!!!!!!!

I'm REALLY hoping Mikey shows up. I'd like to knock his CRANK up into his watchpocket. (while whining about his clutch when it's REALLY his motor )

Hope Wheelspin shows up. We've got unfinished business. Never got to line 'em up at HRP. BE THERE, Dave.

THE SMACK IS FLYIN' NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

U can always get out there and make one pass--U do not have to run in the elimination ladder. Being that HMP is an 1/8 mile track--it is easier on your car. U will probably run a low to mid 9 second elapsed time at about 70 to 73 mph --U can always ask for a bye run, but if U don't want to that's understandable.

If I had a car that looked as nice as yours, I would also think twice about doing anything to risk that. A show quality car like yours, is not something U take out to the drag strip and thrash it til it's tongue is hanging out!

Not everybody is into drag racing--that's why we are giving appearance awards as well at the performance awards. There are thirdgens that I would never expect to see on the strip. If U saw Fatal 88's car, U would know what I am talking about.

Speaking of Fatall 88......I sure hope he makes it.....anybody heard from him lately?

And nobody is going to flame U!

Zap, Ill be happy to continue our rivalry, I'lll even have a few beers first to even things up on the reaction time

I havent' done a thing to my car (except put new brakes) and I think you have so we should be closer than ever. Maybe I should trailer my car and push it up to the line for maximum engine coldness, hehe.

I had unfinished business with Steve from Austin at HMP but know he's got an LS1

I havn't really done anything since HRP except for the cat delete/exhaust cutout. Kinda run outta money these days. Probably do fresh plugs and oil change for the SF. The one thing I have noticed is that your car seems to run better than mine in warmer weather, but in colder weather mine may step it up a bit more--not sure why. Guess I'll just have to make sure U have plenty of beer at the BBQ--maybe then I can smoke u on the line! (and hope for a cool weather evening) U always seem to pull me on the top end by 1/2 car length--maybe in an 1/8 mile I can put a check in the W column (after I get through spanking Barry's butt that is!)

SMACK BACK AT'CHA! Be more than happy to line up with 'ya Barry. Got that left foot figured out yet?

Also want another run at Vortec-Bird. He caught me in the last 1/2 (1/4?) at HRP. I got a real good chance in the 1/8 mile, smoke out the pipes or not.

Nope. I'm too f***ing old to try and be good at the track with a stick. Soon to be converting to auto.

Fun is the main point.

Looks like I have a FALL BRAWL title to defend !!
Went to Evadale this past weekend and turned in my best ever time, even better than I did at Houston. But I'm not making any claims on 1/8 mile yet, still running those 2.73 gears. (love my 27 mpg on the highway )

Don't forget HMP is an 1/8 mile!

14's = 9.0 to 9.55 (or there abouts)

get out there and run a couple practice runs and see what kind of times U can crank out.

Are U gonna run in the interclub elimination ladder?
If U have not read the "Drag strip rules of engagement"--U might want to look it over to see what we got cooking.

And cutting a good light--even more important on an 1/8 mile than on a 1/4 mile!

U can talk smack even if U areone of the slower cars at the meet! If U run the elimination ladder-U will be paired off into time groups with other cars who run similar times.

My wife will be there in her stock 2.8 V-6 1987 RS--probably runs 17's in the quarter (on a good day)--she says she will take on any v-6 out there (except F-Bod's old car) that shows up and kick your butt while she's doing it!!!

oh...wanted to help you here...Torque-Gasp...Gasp-Bang, Torque-Gasp...Gasp-Bang, Torque (if you are running the stock TPI setup)
Heck--if you're running an LS-1 (even stock) U should be able to spank me! There was a guy on this board about a year ago (the guy that parted it out) with a thirdgen with a stock (mostly) that was running mid 7's in the 1/8th. U should be in the low 8's at least!

I'd like to run someone who is deep 13's, just to see where I stand (even though 70% of my power isn't gonna be available until about the 330' mark ) So, whoever wants to pick on my cute little car...hand me my *** please

Yeah, ive been busy with the new woman, import car stuff (BTW, they don't have a fraction of the commaraderie that F-body people do). Steve mentioned the next gathering, so i am making a concious effort to get out there and see how everyone is doing.
