Yep, I had a good time also. Car proved to still be very consistent, very small range between poorest run (#1) and best run (#4). I guess until I make significant changes I should practice on reaction times.
I think the difference in the "hard" numbers is the track and air cooling down. I have had slightly better 60's before, and not experiencing slip anymore, so the combination of the M/T radials and condition of my old engine is not that good. May have to go back to the Goodyears, or change my name

My best was 8.49??--8.55??(gotta round up all the time slips from last night)
Had a couple 8.6's + 8.7's--playing with shift points--quicker times definately letting rev up little higher--shifting 1/2 + 2/3at 5600/5700 was 8.7's--shifting at 6100/6200-1/2 and 5900/6000--2/3 was the 8.4 and 8.55's to me it feels like the engine is starting to "nose over" at higher RPM's but it definately is faster--PUZZLING???
z28evans--enjoyed meeting U --wish that 8.69 U ran was when we line up--that would have been a good one! Maybe next time.
So where was Larry Dunlap--I guess he chickened out--was skirreeeeed I was going to kick his butt and embarass him by how bad I beat him--LOL--!!! I guess our ongoing rivalry will continue to the next trip to the track!!!

Would have loved to made some passes, but didn't want to tow the car home. That BOS trans will be gone soon.

Could the rest of the guys who ran last night put up their numbers (kinda like wheel spin). It would help me associate times with engine/mods.
Zap,
Since you are a lot faster than most, can you point to any one thing that is making the car fast? Or is it a combination of everything? Any idea of your hp numbers?

sucks i couldn't make it, MSD box took a dump for some reason, taking out the coil with it, finished installing jacobs nitrous mastermind friday night, fired up good afterwards no problems, next day..... would't crank over, only had 2.45 volts coming out of MSD orange wire that supplies coil with voltage.... dont know what happened. Disappointed as hell since it was going to be my first time ever at a track, and first time spraying it, hopefully will be at the dyno day....
about what is an 8 sec 1/8 mile converted to a 1/4 mile time?
also Zap ill pick up my shirt at the dyno day if thats alright

Larry Dunlap's cr is about a tenth quicker than mine (usually) and he has stock cam I think--I have a pretty radical cm compared to OEM--.exhaust .520lift/282 duration--intake.484 lift/270 duration--112 degrees lobe seperation/overlap
Have not dynoed--will in a few weeks at ARD--and hopefully I can get Mike out thee to come out and do final tune that he wanted to do, but we needed to be at the track or the strip.
Talking to Owen last night, he is guessing it should be around 290/300 at rear wheels. That seems a little high to me, but what do I know.

I was severly disappointed with my times. I couldn't get outta the hole for chit...stupid turbo is way too laggy.
Best run was:
60' - 2.241
ET - 8.99
mph- 79.6
Car ran alot stronger when the intercooler was cooled down, adn the MPH was averaging 80 mph all nite...but the ET just isn't there cause of launch bog
I need to bump up the timing, but I'm scared the agressive stock timing map will have me detonating at peak V.E.... I'll be picking up an MSD BTM as soon as funds allow. If I can get the 60' down, I'll be doing ok.

Oh yeah, the cam is stock but I had Mike tune my chip as well, which definitely helped. I need to do a cam and heads,

Hi Larry,
Sorry you couldn't make it. I was looking forward to meeting you in person. Zap and Barry have talked a lot about the rivalry you three have going.
Maybe next time.

I took some with my camera but I only have 5 meg of web space on my web site. The smallest one is slightly under 5 meg. I don't know how to compress them. (I guess I could use pkzip). I just hate to pull compressed files and then have to uncompress them.

I hadn't really driven my car since I got home Sat night other than to back it in and out of the garage (I have a home office). I jumped in it to go to Jack in the Crack lst night and the tranny has lost all the "engine braking"--in any gear, when I let off the gas, it's like it goes into neutral. It still shifts firm like normal and it's not slipping even at WOT thru all the gears, but nothing when I let off the gas--it's like U push in the clutch (iF it were a manual)
CRAP!
I already called Owen last night and talked to him about it. I am going to AAA it over there probably tomorrow/FRI, and try to go over Sat morning and sit down and talk to him about it, as well as doing the exhaust as it should be done.

Isn't there a TH350 type tranny available with and overdrive?

Dang Craig, sorry to hear...but at least your trip didn't cost you what mine did...
I scored me some detonation on cylinder # 3, resulting in a broken ring land. Luckily, that new motor was under waranty, so out with the old... I have some tuning good coming this weekend, adn am selling off some of my import crap so i can see about buying an EMS... then it'll be on like donkey kong (90mph traps this time...)

Last week my car started running hot (around 240) so I decided to put it on the ramps in the garage and replace the cheap/easy parts and see what happened. I research a little and decided to replaced the coolant temp switch. I researched a little more and found out that 240 degrees was the normal point when the 2nd cooling fan kicked in.
This got me wondering if the guys that run at the track, have made any mods to get the fans to kick on sooner?
I ordered the hypercrap fan switch that kicks the primary on at 200 and off at 185. I may have the chip modded to kick the secondary fan on lower than 240 (1bad91z?).
Anybody made any changes in the fan department to get your engine to cool sooner?
Don't dump on the fan switch because I already ordered it.

Yeah, that temp thingis what GM had to do for emissions. Sucks! That's too hot for our engines to run efficently. Street or Strip!
First, if U have not, go to the cooling section tech board, and find "*******" tech article on single and dual fan sooling systems--explains everythin U ever want to know about it, and very understandable.
Second, the temp switch control, is one of the best things U can do, except U really need to order a second switch--same type_ and replace the secondary temp switch as well. Otherwise the only time it comes on is with the AC or when it gets to 240.
Yes there are other ways to control the cooling fans. Mainly the fans are controlled by a power relay, usually up by the battery (depending on what year it is). When the temp switch reaches the correct temp, it closes, and completes a ground circuit that grounds the activation side of the relay.
It is possible to put a toggle on the relay either with or wothout the temp switches still in line.
U can also (like mine has been since about 45 minutes after I bought it and brought it home), ground the signal/activation wire to the relay/relays, and they fans will run whenever the key is on. I still have the temp switches in the circuit, but the grounding the relay overides the switch.
AS far as how the other guys in Hou have theirs set-up --not sure. I know I have told a lot of people about doing this--be interesting to see how many do have something other than OEM stock.
