hey, if you decide you wnat to go a little cheaper and mabye carbuerated or TPI i have a motor out of a blazer 4x4 that needs a rebuild job but all in all its stock, so you can bore it and everything, it would be a great platform for a good powered motor, being 4x4 i think it may be 4 blt main but im not sure, i have heads, block, pan, timing chain cam crank pistons rods, pretty much the whole motor, with a TBI intake. ill let it go for $125 and will help deliver it somewhere if u want, gimme a call (210)347-5404
or if anyone else wants it also

I'd muuuuuch rather have carb. than tbi. Is the engine in pieces or is it all put together? Really all I need is the block, pan, and timing chain as I plan on changing it all. I have no way to store it other than on an engine stand in my living room which is no problem for me...cool decoration, something I don't have in my apartment. I'll need to clean it up first though and make sure all liquids are out so it doesn't get all over my carpet. I'll take it though, don't get paid till friday so maybe we can arrange something for friday???
Brian, you okay man???? Tried calling you earlier. You talked about a place at the market that has equipment like engine lifts and stands real cheap, where is that place? Looks like I need an engine stand.

How about the Lowes on Callaghan(sp)? If your going on I-10 from 410, go west and exit callaghan road and take a left, it'll be on your right side, it's right off the highway, can't miss it. If your comming from north 1604, go towards san antonio, exit callaghan rd and it'll be on the right side i believe on the axis road. If you still don't know or are confused, just go to Lowes.com and search for the store on Callaghan road. 78230 I think is the area code. If you still can't find it, don't know what to tell you...it's right off I-10.
Now...what time? It starts to get packed at 9pm or so, so if we show up say 8:30pm at lowes we should be good. OH MF!!! I FORGOT!! HOW AM I GOING TO GO TO A CARSHOW WHEN MY ALTERNATOR IS OUT...DANG! DON'T GET PAID TILL FRIDAY. SEE WHAT I CAN DO.

Nope, as soon as I got off the phone with you Brian called and I talked to him for awhile, and then my best friend called so by the time I got off with them it was too late. I will call him tommorow before I go to work at 2pm. I should have the alternator changed by thursday so i'll more than likely make it out.

Hey guys
Yeah im alive, hibernated most of the day, spent a lot of time drinking water to rehydrate myself. Working on the car, going biking, and night activity got me spent. I stopped every couple of miles, and put water in to get home last night. After i stopped at the gas station, i bought a couple gallons of chilled water, and poured it into the radiator, that got me home. When i stopped the car, steam just came pouring out from under the hood. I just did my brakes yesterday morning, so they were still setting in.

o and just to let you know, that motor will need some time at the machine shop if your actually going to rebuild it, it will probably need to be bored at least 40-50 over but im not an expert

Alright, im going to take a look at that motor on Friday at 7pm. I also looked at engine stands, Harbor Freight has 4 to choose from on their website. $39.99(only 750lbs weight capacity). $59.99(1000lbs capacity), and 2 $99.99(2000lbs capacity). The one I want is $99.99, black, folds up for compact storage, pretty cool if we get this garage thing started. I'll actually go to there on friday to see what they have in-store. Anyone want to go check it out?? I found this on craigs list just now 350 CHEVY MOTOR
This is make me think about that $125 motor that im going to have to completely re-do. Atleast with this one it's already been to the machine shop and has some goodies to go with it.

This is pictures from Sundays night out. Some are better quality than others, plus it was too dark to take pictures where we were parked.

man that 350 isnt half bad.
but man, no hard feeling if you dont buymy motor but, if you do here is my advice. dont rebuild it. take the whole motor over 2 city motor supply on san pedro last time i checked a 350 was around 500-600 dollars for a rebuild good to go shortblock, already putmtogether and everything
but if you bring a core engine, and they do take it, a matching motor is like half price.
i know when i took mine over there i was gunna trade it in and get a matching 4 blt main, assebled for 305 dollars, but they wouldnt take my core cause it was already bored 60 over
do what you got to do and if ya need help with anyhting call me

Really? Dang....well sounds like a deal, but what kind of parts do they put? I'm looking for some power, not a stock or just mildly modified engine(my girl says i'm starting to sound like 'Tim the Tool Man Taylor'). If I buy the parts myself, I can install them myself, and I can dump little by little into it rather than having to pay them all at once as I don't even know when i'll be able to do this swap. I have no clue how long the swap is going to take, but my car is my DD so I need all the parts and tools available when I do it.
I'll definetly check them out though, those are good prices.

I found what was leaking coolant everywhere, i had a gut feeling...when i did the throttle body bypass, the alternator bracket gets in the way of routing the hose directly to the heater. The way they did away with this problem is they ran the coolant through the throttle body and it goes around the bracket. I kept having the bypass hose break because i had to make it bend around the bracket, so i just blocked it off with some rubber bypass caps. One of them cracked along the seam where the clamp holds it down, and its almost an inch long, thats where my pressure loss was. Baby girl is fixed and ready to go, Jim is your firebird idling high?

Idling high??? uuhhhmmm, no...Why? I already checked to see if it's my alternator. When the car is off the battery is at 12v, and when the car is running it's 11.5v and just keeps going down. I'm just going to get a cheap reman. alt. tommorow and call it good till the swap.
Good you got your car fixed, so your ready for thursday??

My car has been idling a little high for days, maybe it just needs to be relearned.
Thats a CS130 alternator right? I used to rebuild the 12si alternators, not sure about the cs series. I think you can get a rebuild one from Oreillys pretty cheap.

Oreillys has it for $74.99 remanufactured, lifetime warranty with a $45 core on Marbach rd, ph# 210 674 6623. It is showing a 105 amp.
Advance has it for $75.94 remanufactured, lifetime warranty with a $15 core
on Marbach rd ph# 210 673 9011. Showing 105 amps.
Autozone has it for $78.99 reman, lifetime, $30 core on marbach, 105 amps

ATTN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!: This lowes is on Callaghan. If your comming off of 410 on to I10...you will need to exit Medical/Wurzbach and take the turnaround.
Also, it's still not looking good as to whether or not i'll have that alternator changed so I may not be able to go. I will be at the pig stand though.

Welcome Julianne, hope you can make out with us soon. Let me know how the alternator worked out. We might have to rebuild yours Jim, theres a place called Northwest Alternators that i always go to get parts, the guys are pretty cool there.

After a lot of thinking and going to the City Motor Inc., i've decided to just wait and buy the whole engine already worked. I won't be ready moneywise in awhile from now. They have their engines pretty cheap there.

Shortblock, it'll get all the stuff I can't do out of the way. Then as I can afford it, buy what I need. z28camaroracer did the swap from efi to carb so he knows how to do it and can give me some pointers or help if needed.
boricua, it's cool man, we've had some decent showings lately so another car/person would add to that.

I have not been keeping up with this entire thread..but are you swapping in a carbed V8 to replace your 6? I did the same thing back in '85.
But the real reason I ask is that I am looking for some wiring pieces and you might be getting ready to toss just what I need. Please take a look at my other thread...
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/sout...onnectors.html
and let me know if you have anything like those that you don't need.
Thanks,
P.S. If you have any questions about the swap I'll be happy to help if I can.

I saw that video before, I was hoping they'd atleast give it a little punch. That car looks badase, especially in person.
SOOOOO...everyone is meeting up on THURSDAY at BENNIGANS right???? I don't get out of work until 9-9:30pm so i'll be there a little after everyone else. Last thursday we had what...8 cars?? I know we can double that. Anyone want to do something after that?? I'm off on Friday so i'd like to do something afterwards. Also if we get booted out everyone is welcome to either Patty's apartment, or maybe we can all just go to mine being parking is hard to get at hers. We'll see cause I don't have TV. Maybe I can get a poker set and dart board or something.

I know, at the end with the long shot of it driving, i was anticipating it rocketing off, maybe they did it on purpose to make you salivate.
I will be heading out to Bennigan's after i get out of class at 930 Jim, maybe i can get Val to bring her truck. I just drilled some holes in my airbox, on the side where the guards are, so it breathes better but wont suck in water without hitting something. I *think* its building air mass faster, it seems more responsive, but i will have to try it out during the day.
I think this is why i only get 13mpg, one time during the summer i got 16mpg and i thought it was a fluke (i have a 160 stat in there)

Congrats on #5 Anthony.
Just got a call from a guy I left a note on his camaro(didn't catch his name but he seemed cool). Said he'd be out on thursday, so that's 1 more to the list. The people who showed up at yesterdays bar-b-que, are they comming out to bennigans on thursday? If not call them up! Usually it's the import cars that start showing at muscle car shows and cause them to be moved elsewhere...well...lets see if we can get them to move. Especially since they chose a lousy place to have it, by 9:30 you can't even find parking.
