Will have convertible painted for meet!!
Hi Guy's,
Well I've finally got off my backside and started working again on the convertible. Got it stripped down and once I have my new GM bumper cover and fenders it will be going in for paint next week with any luck. Also purchased all new weatherstripping which cost an arm and a leg.
If I have time after the refit I might get the posi rear end in, also I've purchased some LS1 front brake calipers and disks. Anyone done this conversion?? Tried PM'ing one of the guys on the brake forum but have got no reply yet.

Hi Nick,
Yes I did thanks. Going to concentrate on the convertible for the moment. Next year I'll start on the MG. Thanks for the heads up.
I'm just going to get the convertible finished in time for the meet. Have parts coming from all over the place.

Finished stripping the car down today, completely removed the front clip. Jet washed all the door jams and rebuilt my bottom door hinges, no more sagging doors.
Ordered a GM bumper cover from Hawks 3rd Gen, have two fenders being delivered tuesday. Get all the panels lined up next week. Then off to paint.

The emerald green would be nice. Not something you see on a third gen, maybe tyhe deep forest green. I allways wanted the electric blue, but all my rides were usually red, so the door jams and what not woulda been a pain.

Re: Will have convertible painted for meet!!
Car is going in for paint tomorrow (wednesday). Should take about 4 to 5 days. Chose Yellow, the same color they use on the Hummer and the Cobalt, wanted to use a GM color still. Then will be a couple of days fitting it back up.

Re: Will have convertible painted for meet!!
Its gone into Maaco in the end, They had quoted me $1900 previously to do the work. With me stripping the whole car down and doing some of the bodywork it dropped the price down to $1450. Went to about 5 different places and were all quoting between $2000 and $3000.

I've painted a couple of cars myself in the past but using cellulose which you all banned over here. I've bought all the paint for my 50 Chevy but have a lot more bodywork to do on that one. When I get round to painting that I'll buy one of those portable garages with the sides and make a spray booth.

If you do that you could probably do a pretty good business painting thirdgens. IM about ready for a custom paint job myself. Look forward to seeing your car at the meet.

Got the car back today, started re-assembly. Got all of the weather stripping in. Don't know if I'll get it completely finished for the meet.
Trying to find some sound deadening material for under the carpet. Also have to re do the stereo system.
