Honestly Mike, out of 9 or so third gens i have owned, i think NONE of them ever has had one....Interesting.

Out of the six Camaro's I've owned, this is the 1st one that was missing the front ashtray! Hell, even the '83 had one....

u got an email, i got one down in my room, doesn't appear to be in bad shape out of my '88 RS.

why would you want a plastic one, id have the metal bad boy.

did they come with plastic ones?! I just thought he meant metal...cause thats what i have and thats all i've seen. That woudln't be that smart to have a plastic one as they would melt.

The hard plastic ones do melt a bit from the ones i have seen in other cars if you just let a lit cigarette lay on it. But using it to ash and put one out they are not too bad i guess.

Sorry, mine is metal. Did not know there was a plastic one. Sounds like a canidate for a console fire.

All the ones I've seen are plastic. I'm not using it for smoking, I'm needing one to just complete the missing pieces of the car.

I know the rear console ashtray is metal, but the front one is plastic, well at least the one in the black car is. Maybe the older 3rdgen's have a metal front ashtray??

i see moderndaymuscle has both, i guess i cant understand why theyd equp somethin you put hot ash into make it plastic.

Actually, me a friend used to use his plastic ashtray quite a bit in his '89 RS and it never burnt or melted. But that car got wrapped arround a telephone pole with both of us in it. I still have the accident scene pictures from it! From the pics, you wouldn't have thought we would have faired as well as we did. The firewall is what saved us....

So would a 10 point roll cage made it even better?
