i thought i read a thread that you were going to stick with 3.73's. aren't you going turbo? why not go with 3.42's or lower in order to keep the turbo under load sooner?

AHHH pyle brothers "though" they knew better than me, disregarded my instructions to press the bearings on AFTER the backing plates and retaining plates, so now i'm going back at 730am to get them to fix it.

They have probably not seen and EARLY model (pre-'89) Dana 44 before.
But if they had bothered to look at the parts it would be obvious how they need to go together. I can imageing just how it went...
Counter guy says, "The customer said it goes this way."
Shop guy says, "Ya Ya, Ive done this before, I know what to do,
just throw the box of parts in the corner and I'll take care of it."
This is probably the first botched job I have heard of coming out of Pyle Bros. shop.
I'll be interested in finding out how they treat you.

Re: i need 2" spacers or 2 wheels by saturday!
a little more back ground on the pyle brothers deal:
I dropped the rear end off last monday, they measured the axles and ordered custom ones from moser, told me they could have it ready by friday the 24th. thursday they call me in the morning (930am) and tell me i forgot to give them the retaining plates, which i did -my fault-, and that if i brought them they would put them on and press the bearings while i waited, and i could put the axles in when i got home so i could put the rear in that night (fine with me, it's easy to bolt in axles). i was at work so i had my dad run over there with the plates and the truck to pick up the rear.
Before i got off the phone with the pyle bro's guy i told him you have to press the bearings on after you put the backing plates AND retaining plates on, he told me i was wrong, but i explained to him it was an older axle pre '87 or whatever it is, and he said "we are gonna use "A-9" bearings that stick out far enough that you dont need to press on the backing plate. i was sceptical and told him to make sure it was right before they pressed the bearings on
i get off work, come home and start assembling the rear. the backing plates weren't pressed on and the bearing didn't work like they guy said. i call them (5pm) and tell them the situation. they say i dont think we are wrong but bring it all in tomorrow and we'll take a look.
i get to their place at 8am froday morning, the guys working in the shop couldn't really undersatnd what needed to be done, so the owner (one of the pyle brothers? lol) looked at my rear and understood what needed to be done to make it work. they cut off the old bearings, put the plates on and pressed new bearings on for free and i was on my way at 9am
i cant complain about the place at all, they do great work, like you said eric i've never heard anything bad about them, and there was just a "we do this all the time we know how" like you said, that turned into a "you should of listened" lol. they were super nice about it, their work is great it was just a little oops that they took care of asap with no complaints
and

to everone who offered wheels/spacers, i ended up gettign some from a guy in college station
