Austin area?

Hi, Im fairly new to the forum, got an 84 Z28 in the works of rebuilding the engine (I bought it with blown head gaskets)

Wondering if there is anyone in the Austin area (I am North west austin area) that may be willing to trade help for help on cars/projects? I'm fairly new at tinkering under the hood but seem to be catching on pretty quick.

Re: Austin area?

Welcome to the club, Khozzmo.
As Stephen pointed out, we have a local club in Austin, come join us.
And if you need a spare engine to drop in instead of wrenching on the current one, I have an LB9 roller long block with 1-piece rear that you could drop in and get going in just a few hours.

And yes, come on out to the statewide 3rdgen gathering. Don't have a 3rdgen? No problem, you can ride shotgun in my convertible.

Re: Austin area?

Honestly, that engine you described, I have no idea about it. I am still pretty new to tinkering with cars.. A few months ago before I bought my 84 camaro, I did just a little bit more than change the oil and spark plugs in trucks that I've owned.
I recently had some heads rebuilt for the (im pretty sure) stock 305 engine and trying to get everythign back together, although its going to be tricky remembering/figuring out how all the parts came apart! I would always be happy for any kind of help with it!

And a 3rd gen meet sounds like a lot of fun even if I don't have my 3rd gen up and running yet!

Re: Austin area?

Alright, we'll see you at the 3rdgen Texas gathering on Saturday. (holler at me if you want to ride with me)
We can talk engines there. It's really no rocket science. It's just Chevy technology, very very crude and simple.

Yes tomorrow. 1pm. Links to maps are in the very first post of this tread.

This thread is been there (TGO & part of my sig here) since January, so there are no excuses for not knowing about it!

Re: Austin area?

At 1 we meet for food. That will last until everyone is done, retires to the parking lot, then we move over to the city park.

I found a decent area that ia well shaded under trees. Some will actually get to park under trees, some won't. Depends on how close you are to the front of the line.

I get to, since I'm leading! When we pull out of Dukes, I'll go slow on the side road out, so that we can get a good line together. Doubt we'll all make it trough the red light together, but it is a straight shot to the park & you can't get lost & not find us. We'll be right across from the catfish restaurant place.

Sorry that I forgot to get the Exit #s coming from North or South on I35. Te exits aren't real close to Dukes, so I can tell you for sure, that you'll hafta ride the service road for a bit. Hopefully the Maps you guys got off the internet give you the correct Exit #s.
