In need of some help in the Houston Area

I thought about going to a local shop here is pasadena but most of them here always add on things that arn't even bad on the car. I just dont trust them.

My predicament is my transmission isn't sitting on the mount fully and my enging ( well to me ) seems to be tilted upward on the driver side. my pully belt was rubbing on the radiator hose.
I just need some expertiece to look at it for me to figure out the problem.

well just a tranny mount being broke wont let the engine move across that far. i think the tranny mount has been broke and now an engine mount is as well.

Re: In need of some help in the Houston Area

I'v had both motor and tranny mounts replaced within the last coupel months but i got them replaced at my school's auto tech class. maybe they did something wrong.
The mount's that were on it before were all bad.
Could I have ran the enging too long on bad mounts causing something to bend?

hmmm, i'm agreeing with lance that it's your mounts, the transmission mount isn't hard to destroy in these cars, so that probly went first then your engine mount was the next to go.

there's nothing to really bend that would cause what your describing, take a look at your mounts and tell us what they look like then we can go from there

Re: In need of some help in the Houston Area

the tranny mount is usually easy to tell. get in it and drive down the road slowly and floor it. if you hear a clunking noise then the tranny mount is bad. but if the tranny mount is bad enough to cause the engine to move over that far then something else is most likely wrong as well.

Re: In need of some help in the Houston Area

Indeed tranny mount sounds broken although it may not appear as such.
I've broken EVERY factory tranny type mount i ever had in a f-body while
my energy suspension tranny mount has NEVER been broken with all the
slamming i have done on my T-10.

As far as the motor 'appearing' to be sitting high on driver side. It sounds
like a motor mount may be broken and/or it is not seated properly. I have
run into this myself on a friends Elky. You need to look closely at the motor
mounts and make sure the 'TABS' are seated properly.
Here is a pic showing the tabs i speak of.

'not an f-body mount, just an example'

No better way then to do it yourself... i know the motor mounts are a pain but the tranny mount is too easy to do by yourself and not pay the extra money to have it done...
