Re: 2013 ThirdGen Roundup Information
Thanks for making this a sticky!
If yesterday's NTTGA meeting is any indication of what the roundup is going to be, this is going to be the best year ever. We had 31 cars there yesterday for a local meeting!

Re: 2013 ThirdGen Roundup Information
man, I've never heard so much whining about Texas heat from a buncha Texans. if you can't stand the heat get out of the skillet. The first two years we drove down to Austin and nobody complained about that. I think it's good that we share the responsibilities of different locations. I drove over 300 miles to come to Austin in June with no AC, and guess who still had fun. Lol
Can't wait to see you all there. Yehaw

Re: 2013 ThirdGen Roundup Information
Some goof rear ended my bird. I am still coming, and bringing the bird, but it wont be repaired before the show. Luckily the damage is minor. It was a Tahoe, and it slid up on top of the bumper, scuffing it and gently smacking the center panel. I do need a new center filler panel, as mine was cracked. PM me a price if you have one that is in great shape and bring it to the show. Must have the white bird logo.

Re: 2013 ThirdGen Roundup Information
Since I am one of the houston guys I feel like I am allowed to say the following. The DFW guys have been real troopers. I think(58mark can you confirm?) that each year so far they have repeativly produced the most cars for this event. I think they were very close even when it was in Houston. The populations of dallas and fort worth combined metro areas is only slightly higher and so they should really only slightly show up Houston. You are really making us H-town guys look bad

Sad news, I've tried getting my car running before this event. But school is first, so I'm still coming but just not with my Camaro.

Re: 2013 ThirdGen Roundup Information
Well this was a big waste of my time. I totally understand it's a THIRDGEN roundup. But I had no idea that if I brought a good friend and obsessive fellow enthusiast along with one of his three Camaros that happens to be a Fourthgen that he would be outcasted to the outer parking lot and not even allowed to park near our cars. I just wanted him to be able to park where his beautiful 35th anniversary edition SS could be protected from irresponsible pedestrians. He knew he couldn't participate in the raffle, but still wanted to hang out with us and have a good time as he (unlike others here) enjoy and admire all f-bodys. Its times like this that make me ashamed to be apart of such events.

Re: 2013 ThirdGen Roundup Information
Wow jeff, I'm so Sorry that you somehow got the impression that this was anything but an event for thirdgens. This is the second year that we've been able to segregate thirdgens away from the rest of the rank and file cars. there's only two events in the country that I know that promote third gens exclusively, and this is one of them, and I've heard from the overwhelming majority of the participants of the 4 years of the gatherings that they LIKE it that way. It makes this event special, and celebrates their cars as being special unlike almost any other event in the country
Just wondering.. what did you think gave you the ability to dictate protocol and procedure for this event? You've known me for years, and know that my goal is narrowly focused on promoting events for the third gen owner. If our history of debating this topic didn't give you pause enough to ASK Robbie or Me if 4th gens would be allowed to park with the rest of the 3rd gens, then frankly you are beyond any help I can offer you.
By the way, after you did your tantrum burnout in the dirt, spewing dirt and rocks on other's cars, it's a good thing that you didn't step foot back into the participants area. You might want to keep your distance from both local thirdgen events for a long time, because your name and face is not appreciated or respected within the group for that little stunt

I didn't kick anybody out, including you. You left on your own after throwing a crybaby tantrum. By your own admission you knew my feelings on the subject and chose to put your guests in a bad situation. You have nobody to blame for this but yourself.
There were several 4th gen owners there, including Robbie's brother. The only person that had a problem with the policy was you.

After all the conversations you and I have had about these things I can honestly say I am surprised to hear you say this Robbie. I am big enough to admit that my response to mark's decision to dump on a fellow enthusiast was wrong. But I am shocked to see that you agree 100% after you said Luke could come.

Sorry, yes technically you didn't kick anybody out. They would have had to be in first. You are so missing the point it's not even funny. They just wanted their precious toys protected. Not sure how many more times I have to point that out. Guess if you didn't get it there why would you get now.

Re: 2013 ThirdGen Roundup Information
nonsense Jeff. this wasn't about protection. This was about gate crashing. there was nothing unsafe about parking where we asked them to. If they are that much of nervous wrecks about their cars I certainly hope they aren't driving those cars on a daily basis... and if those aren't daily drivers, then why did they bring them at all? hmmmmm.....
Sounds like you would be more happy with the company of Texas F body. I wish you well in all your future endeavors with them

Re: 2013 ThirdGen Roundup Information
As stated in the beginning of my previous post, in case you missed that part, I do understand that it is about third gens and I have no qualms with that. As a matter of fact I obviously love them myself and used to enjoy a gathering of such. I just didn't see the point in making someone with nice Camaros who traveled with the group, just wanting to enjoy the event with the rest of us, have to leave their cars in an unsecured area just because it was a few years newer. I even told you I was going to put them in the outfield. I just want them to be away from the general public. I THOUGHT that you of all people would understand that. Guess I was wrong. I guess someone as self centered as you can't seem to put yourself in anybody else's shoes and realize that we are all enthusiasts here in one way or another and we each want to love and protect our own cars.
As for the invitation, I did check with Robbie before inviting Luke. As far as I know, the other was invited by Robbie. I kinda figured you wouldn't really like having them there, because of you being a segregationist (your words), but had no idea you were going to go so far as to kick them out.
And as far as kicking dirt and rock on other cars. I don't think I did since there wasn't anyone behind me. Although if the wind carried some dust over them I will sadly apologize to any and all, but never to you mark.

Re: 2013 ThirdGen Roundup Information
Wow! First and foremost, thanks to those who have all made this event happen. You guys are really putting forth a great effort, and the event is, imo, a huge success. My wife and I look foward to this each year.
*sigh* Now for some Drama.
I have been to all 4 years of these with the bird. Correct me if I am wrong but I think they have gone down like so:
The first 2 years all cars were parked among the 3rd gens(a Shelby Cobra, 4th gens etc). Also in the 2nd year raffles began, the non 3rd gen owners did not get to participate. Last year, the 3rd year, was the first time that non 3rd gens were parking away from the 3rd gens. This made sense to me since Papa's had a horribly small grass area for the show, barely enough room for the 3rd gens. I hope we meet somewhere else the next time it is in Houston.
Unfortunately, I cannot agree with the actions of the hosts this year. There was ample space for the other supporters of the roundup who did not bring 3rd gens to at least drive inside and park off to the side somewhere. There was probably half an acre of unused grass. I do agree that only 3rd gen owners should be able to register and participate, since this is a 3rd gen show. Perhaps whenever space permits there could be a small coned off section for the other "supporters" to park their rides. I think this option would be a more successful way to gain support for this event and not leave anyone feeling unwelcome.
Having said that, Lo-Z also acted irrationally when he did his burnout in the grass. The nose of his car also ended up too close for comfort to some of the other cars. Although I can understand his frustration, watching someone body-block a 4th gen camaro from entering the gate, I don't condone his actions. In the future I think refraiming from this kind of driving would also be a successful way to gain support for this event.
So again I am casting my vote, as a long time supporter of this event. I would prefer to see, when space is available, a small section where other supporters may park to also enjoy the show. I can even bring cones to section them off. The alternative can brew bad feelings and bad publicity, which no one wants to see.
P.S. Houston, we suck! Just 2 cars this year, exactly half of what we produced the 1st year, which also sucked. Only myself and MMroc86 made the lonely drive up to Dallas. I had to do a few extra burnouts to compensate for the pathetically small caravan. My tire shop will be mailing you a bill!

Re: 2013 ThirdGen Roundup Information
words cannot describe how much I appreciate you two making the drive up from houston. I do know that more would have come if possible, but yes, considering the amazing weather it would have been nice to have more from Austin and Houston. It's only a 2 hour drive from Austin. That's nothing for Texans
As for the parking, you're partially correct. The first two years we did have 4th gens, cobras, and other cars parked along side the thirdgens, but the difference is it was a public parking lot. We had no right to tell people where to park. The second year the TGN nation guys had the lot segregated before the Dallas guys even arrived, and that was really nice.
This year, this parking area was paid for by me. It was a limited access private party lot, and we chose to make the area inside the barricades a third gen sanctuary. we're not the only event that does this by the way. read this page and you'll see that thirdgen ranch not only segregates the thirdgens, but actually makes all participants pay a pretty sizable registration fee, even if you don't bring a thirdgen. Even spectators pay the fee... wow

I understand your concerns and don't hold any grudges against people who feel the same as you, even jeff (though his actions were childish and destructive) but we had to make a call one way or the other, and the decision was made to make the parking area as an exclusive third gen oasis, and the vast majority of the people who I've had discussions about this with have agreed with me and appreciated my position.
