Third Gen Roundup 2015 information thread
For 2015 the Third gen Roundup will be held on May 9th at Getzendaner Park in Waxahachie, TX. Same location as the 2013 Roundup, but this year we are planning on having a catering truck there to provide lunch.
Are are pleased to announce that this year we will have a special guest, Derek Travis and the Silver Unit Racing team from Street Outlaws. Derek will be bringing the Silver Unit Camaro to the 2015 Roundup, as well as gear available to purchase. We hope you're as excited as we are to get to meet him and see his car!
We'll Start at 11 with registration. We'll do our "Top 5" car show again, a photoshoot, and maybe even a cruise. Lots of plans are in motion to make 2015 the biggest and best roundup ever. Mark it on your calendar, and plan on being there. Remember the Third gen Roundup is the largest Thirdgen Gathering in the WORLD that is free to attend, No registration fee, EVER

Re: Third Gen Roundup 2015 information thread
I know things are quiet here on Facebook, but don't let that fool you. This is by far going to be the biggest Roundup ever, and possibly the largest collection of Third gens in one place the country has seen in a LONG time. We're looking at a number that could equal 100. We have people driving in from Florida, New Mexico, Way down from South Padre, and all over.
If you aren't on Facebook and planning on coming, please let me know here. We're getting a catering truck, and I want to be able to tell him how many people will be there

Re: Third Gen Roundup 2015 information thread
OK, I should wait a day on this because I don't have ALL the info yet, but it's time sensitive, so I'm going to spill it. We have partnered up with Hampton Inn in Waxahachie to offer a great price on a hotel for the roundup. They are offering us rooms for $89 per night, that's a savings of over $50 from their normal rate. It's the nicest hotel in town, with Free Parking, Free Buffet Breakfast, Free WiFi, and we have the only Indoor pool in town. They are located next door to the Civic Center, and only a couple of minutes away from Getzendaner park. I will post up tomorrow on what we have to do to get this fabulous rate (call in person or enter an online discount code, but if you are traveling a great distance, we hope this makes your trip a little more affordable and enjoyable. More information SOON. Hotel rooms have limited availability, so once the reservation information is posted, act quickly so you don't miss out.

Re: Third Gen Roundup 2015 information thread
We've thought about that, but the vast majority of the participants would rather take how time to look at the cars, and try to visit with as many fellow owners as they can.
If more people request it, it's certainly something we would consider. We aren't very far away from the ennis track
That being said, a huge percentage of our participants are show quality cars, and those guys would never consider putting their cars on a road course. .

O.K. guys, it looks like Texas Motorplex Ennis has Friday the 8th down as a fast Friday. How many people would be interested in heading out there. I can leave Houston at about 1:00p.m. Friday. I can contact TM and see of we can do a jackpot bracket if enough people are interested.

Re: Third Gen Roundup 2015 information thread
Saturday night would be better. So many people are doing a caravan in on Saturday morning . People who want to do it can stay the night on Saturday and drive back he next day. Those that just want to go home, can do that. We've always planned this as a day trip, where most participants can drive in, do the roundup, and be back home the same day. It's not a terrible idea, if it was available on Saturday I would consider adding it to this year's schedule

Re: Third Gen Roundup 2015 information thread
That would be better except they are starting their brackets in the morning on Saturday. Maybe next go around we could get in for something at the strip. I may still try to come up on Friday night and then make the meet on Saturday.

Just curious about the event. Looks like rain all week this week in Houston and in Waxahachie and this weekend. Is everyone still going? Is this in an open field area or in a parking structure again. Just curious if I need to trailer the car in a race car hauler or if we are rescheduling or what all is going on?

Re: Third Gen Roundup 2015 information thread
The latest Mark posted was that they have a parking garage lined up as a back up plan in the event of rain. No talk of rescheduling as of yet. My biggest concern with the rain is that my t-tops tend to leak, still debating whether to take the car or just show up to enjoy the event without it.

Re: Third Gen Roundup 2015 information thread
Exactly! I'm probably leaving the car home and I'll just head up with my boys to meet some people and see some cars. Three days of rain and 1000 mile round trip sounds like like a huge soaking of my interior. We were really looking forward to taking the car too, but mother nature has the final say. Not much any of us can do about the weather.

Yes, we have a garage lined up, but I know that doesn't help those of you driving. If you do get a trailer that would be awesome. There is nice trailer parking right next to the garage.
I'm hoping the rain isn't constant, and people can plan their driving around it.
I have a photo from the top of the garage I'll post in a minute

Car hauler option is off the table. I am going to have to opt out and hope for reschedule unless this rain disappears. I am not driving in the rain. Sorry guys, but keep me posted as I am constantly checking weather and at this point at 80% and 90%, I am hoping for a reschedule.

If the chance of rain doesn't improve by this thursday, we're looking at a makeup day of May 30th. how does that work for you?

Re: Third Gen Roundup 2015 information thread
Stay tuned to this page or the roundup homepage with weather updates. At this point it's possible we could move the start time back a couple of hours, or delay it until next weekend. not sure yet

Re: Third Gen Roundup 2015 information thread
Due the forecast showing 50-60% chance of showers all day in Saturday, combined with the flooding all over the state, we've decided to push the roundup back for one more day. The new day and time will be Sunday, May 31st at 2PM. I know that won't work for everybody, but the overwhelming conversations I've had with people today told me you all would rather have the roundup one day later on a day where its projected to be amazing outside than drive your cars in the rain to get there, even if we have covered parking available once we are there.
We will try to get the group shot done by 6PM, so out of towners can get back to home at a reasonable hour. We may ask everyone to park up top at the beginning, and just have the roundup on the roof. It's only supposed to be 80 that day, so that's not hot at all. If you want to park in the shade, that's your car and you can move your car later for the group shot.
The Cruise in from the north is still on. If you are interested in being a part of that, be at 849 N Interstate 35 East Service Rd DeSoto, TX 75115 in the luby's parking lot in Desoto at 1:30 PM, and we'll head toward the roundup by 1:45
The BBQ catering will NOT be available, so either eat before you come, or there is a nice Mexican restaurant right across the street from the Garage that will be open
We're going to take the group shot by 6, but don't feel that you have to leave right after that. We have garage as long as we need it. If you are enjoying yourself talking to everyone, please stay!
Again, I'm sorry if this ruins anybody's plans, but we've had historic rains lately, and we're all doing what we think is the best to make this a great day.
