I dont know what county Humble is but if its harris, you will have to pass the emmissions test.
Im a state inspector. If its due soon id get it done NOW. starting may1st the laws are going to change. were going to start using Dynos. Purpose being to simulate highway speeds. Its going to be much more difficult to pass.

Hey Rock, what is the year cutoff for that? Isn't it if it's before 84 you don't have to do emissions at all.....?

<~~doesn't have to worry about emmissions, but still hates em.

is that dyno test gonna be for the whole state? i'm doing an engine swap in my 82 camaro next month....and i'm not planning on putting the smog pump back on. the engine is a 91, so i figured the emissions would still be ok......

Anything that is 2-25 years old must pass emissions, in the designated counties. 84 and older does not have to have a converter to pass the safety inspection, but it needs to be there if it is tested for emissions. All vehicles 1960 and newer should have all smog equip. present. (air, egr, evap, if so originaly equipped) the Dyno program is going into effect on the counties that are allready testing emissions. IT CAN NOT TEST HP. Its just there to put the Load on the car. Basically if you own a thirdgen and are in a designated county, you have to pass.

Im just full of all kinds of interesting facts, you would be supprised.

If you show that you are living in Waco or however that works, then you just need to pass visual...as in "You got a cat? Yup. Well you pass." Easy to get passed in Waco....just don't go to the place on Elm St for an inspection. I went there because they are really really lenient, but they told me they weren't doing inspections and sent me around the corner to buy drugs. WTF? i really wanted an inspection.

Hay rock I have heard many times that texas was going to go to state wide sniffer test. How true is that and how is the measurement taken in texas by the size of the engine or is there just a total cap for the emissions like a 454 couldn't have anymore parts per milion than a 1.5 4cyl? Also can you pass the emissions test if you have parts off the car and still don't produce anymore harmfull emissions than a normal engine of the same size?

Sorry I just have a lot of questions about this becuz I live in gregg county and it is next on the hit list for the sniffer test. The local goverment has been stalling and getting extentions on when the emissions tests would be started in my county.

PS they take our emissions readings from the airport and about 2 miles SE of one of the largest chemical companys in the country which I personally think is . The local Eastman/kodak plant is the largest source of all of our bad readings. The county has tried to get the testing to be done in the middle of town and no such luck so far.
