Looking at another FBody, need some opinions.

I sold my Camaro a while ago and man was that the worst idea i came up with. I miss it everyday. I'm now looking to get back into a Firebird, either 2nd or 3rd Gen. So i happened across this listing on craigslist today. needs some work but seems to be a solid looking car. Should i spend the time to check it out? Let me know what you guys think...

I'm not sure if 3rd and 4th gen interiors bolt into this car - it may be a bear or very $$ to find a decent interior. That being said, there arent many of these, especially with T-Tops (at least that i know of) and it's the last year of 2nd gen.

I'd ask about that engine, is it built or stock or? If its rebuilt to be strong, its probably a deal if you are willing to deal w/ the interior. If its a stock 403 don't let the cubic inches fool you, they were fairly weak as I recall.

Hmm, id definitely need to see some interior pics, before i made the drive to check it out. I'll investigate some interior parts tonight.

The 403 kind of throws me off a little because i thought they stopped using the 403 in 79..Can someone tell me if this is true or not? Im gonna ask him in my next email.

Heck if i can find a 3rd gen, ill probably pass on this....Thanks for the reply!

by trade I am a upholsterer, I can't spell, but i do automotive trim

the second gen firebirds have no problems getting parts for.

the dash and console are the most $$$$

The rest would be as pricey as a 3rd gen would be
I do not know where you reside, but 3rd gen interior plastic stuff in good shape is getting a bit harder to find lately.

At least the second gen stuff is available

Second gen prices are going up, but it seems more so in the '78 and older.

It is your choice, I own two 3rd gens and parts cars. I wouldn't trade them for nuthin'.

Every car has its setbacks, wheb looking for a fixer upper

Hope this helps

Thanks, its good to hear that the interior pieces are availible

Its hard to decide between a 2nd and 3rd Gen. Whichever one comes up first for the right price is the one ill probably end up getting.
