Well, if you take those cities and plot them on a map, dead center is near Opp, Alabama. Montgomery kind of skews it north...

Opp isnt exactly the greatest place for a get together... I was thinking either meet at the gump at hooters or crestview at hooters.. Either eay... Ta ta's will be viewed.

Re: F-body meeting pensacola/mobile/montgomery/panama city
I'd pick the area closer to the majority commitments. Our group was planning on a March meet off of exit 44 in Alabama. Seems like the largest cluster is around the orig poster's area east of the FL state line. I haven't met any third gen owner from montgomery so it intrigues me who might make a drive south.

Yeah but it's dead center. In my opinion the best spot is right by my house so I don't have to travel far.
I see a ton of thirdgens between Destin, Ft. Walton, Niceville, and Crestview, but only a few post on here.

ohhh no worries.... i like me some tah tah's..... just don't like hooters food and the beer selection isn't impressive. If i want to see tah tah, there's cheaper / better ways to do it.
but as i said, it's right down the road..... ish so i'll do it.

The 10th is a definite no-go weekend for me as I will not be in the area. I do like the thought of the Crestview location however, and I'll start planting the seed in a few people's minds here, even if I may have to miss out

No, that's too long a wait. How bout a St Patrick's Day fest toasting to the 3rd gen platform. March 17th, 1:30PM Pensacola. Indoor or outdoor dining. Within walking distance is Seville Park with old oak shade trees, the historical village and one of the best local microbrewery's that also makes great old fashioned sodas for you or the kids. If you like waterfront drinks/dining afterwards, the Fish House offers some great views of the waterfront.

Re: F-body meeting pensacola/mobile/montgomery/panama city
I hope I am not overstepping any boundries. I have recently arrange the third annual Fbody meet in Destin, Florida. We invite all Fbodies to join. It will be on
March 31st @ Johnny O'Quigley's in Destin, Fl.
Meet will start at 1pm.
Some of you may have came last year. 1nasty86 posted it up on TGO for me and came last year. We usually have around 25 to 30 cars show for this meet from all generations of fbodies. As well as others stopping by and driving through. We usually hang around in the parking lot, talk, check out each others cars. We also take pictures throughout the whole meet, then whenever we are ready go in and grab some food. The meet usually lasts around 3-4 hours total with people coming From as far as Mobile, Montgomery, and Tallahassee. I hope to see some of you guys there.
Oh yeah, just to introduce myself. I am from Pensacola, Fl and drive a 1998 Pontiac Trans Am. I have always loved the third gens. Growing up watching Knight Rider and such. Hope to meet some of you guys there.

Gator Paint and Body - In FWB, but i have no idea if they're still around.
Stripmasters - in Milton, haven't heard anything about these guys in years, so no idea if they're still around or not and if so what kind of work.
i can tell you to avoid Precision Paint and body in Crestview... had them do an accident claim on my wifes impala and it was amazing how lazy there were and thought i wouldn't notice.

Right on thanks brother. I am gonna check out the stripmasters place. The other places here in milton/pace are just straight up rip offs. When I wanted to get my Vr4 painted they were talking like 5 to 6 grand to just base/clear with very minimal bodywork

Re: F-body meeting pensacola/mobile/montgomery/panama city
that price is probably on par. just about all of the "pro-shops" i've talked to around here want 4-5K just to base and clear. no jams, no nothing just exterior. i've got a few friends with people they know who do it on the side, but never gotten a call back from any of them to check out their work. stripmasters used to be expensive, but about 8 years ago, if you wanted a reputable place to do a show car quality job on the car, they were the way to go.

Re: F-body meeting pensacola/mobile/montgomery/panama city
i bought one of the purple HVLP guns from harbor freight to try my luck at painting. seen alot of people on here have good luck with them. i suspect it will take many practice attempts though on my IROC before i finally get brave enough to try it on my Vert. might be an option for you. or just keep an ear out at the shops you frequent. usually if you ask around you can find A guy who does it on the side. just make sure to check out his work and ask yourself if it was your car you were looking at would you be happy with it.

I could see driving down to Destin. Only like a 4hour drive for me. Hate to have to drive the car on the highway...who knows what could happen to a paint job.
Family vacations there a lot during the summer. I'll try and make it down. Would love to make it!

I am about to try to paint my vr4 cause so I will let you know how it goes. I did the same and bought some guns from Harbor Freight. My neighbor across the street painted his 65 mustang in his garage and it came out looking pretty awesome. I am going to talk to him probably this weekend for some tips before I get started. I have already done the all the body work on it and just need to spray the primer/base and clear

Re: F-body meeting pensacola/mobile/montgomery/panama city
short version - had the rear end rebuilt due to a bad ring and pinion. then had it rebuilt again when the carrier went bad on the ride home. this time i put 3.73's in it. difference in gearing made the speedo WAY inaccurate.... replaced driven gear - speedo still inaccurate but not as bad. then speedo stopped working. discovered the car NEEDS the input from the VSS to run properly as it started going bat@#$% after it broke. tried finding the right combo and eventually discovered 15 Drive 42 Driven. took to have gears installed and discovered VSS actually broke. replaced VSS and installed 15/42 combo - car ran to 40MPH and VSS broke and shredded the 42 tooth gear. bad VSS suspected as it didn't seem to spin right to begin with. parts ordered and waiting, should be in monday and it'll get tried again. hopefully this time it will work if not......? enter frustration here.

I have rust in my coolant system. Car sat for last two weeks and the coolant separates from rust in the tank so it's green with the rust bits sitting up in the reservoir, but after a drive it all mixes and becomes brown. Isn't a head gasket and isn't oil in the system, it's just plain old rust. I think the last owner put tap water in the radiator. Car just needs a day of nothing but fill/flush/fill/flush/fill/flush... car runs fine and stays in normal operating temps.

Hey I just talked to that shop in crestview and they seem like pretty legit dudes. I am going to swing by and check it out this week. I was talking to the guy about dyno tuning and he said he would get back to me they are gonna talk to their dyno guy and see what kind of stuff they would be able to offer to us. Anybody interested?
