Searching for a 3rd gen around Atlanta

I am in the process of searching for a third generation formula or t/a (preferably 1992, but will go as far back as '87). Have seen three fakes already. I've see the info on various web sites, but would like verification on whether 4-wheel disc brakes were standard equipment on formulas and t/as w/WS6.

JAF and Welcome to the boards! This was posted by Madmax in the "Historical/Restoration Board". Hope this helps.

The 85 WS6 package included rear discs. If the car didnt have them, they were either removed or GM ran out like they have in the past.

Heres the list:

82:
12.7:1 quick ratio steering
32mm front swaybar
21mm rear swaybar
Limited slip rear differential
4-wheel disc brakes
15"x7" Turbo cast aluminum wheels
P21565R15 Eagle GT's(subject to availability)
Notes: WS6 required on CFI TA's

83 on't know

84:
12.7:1 quick ratio steering
32mm front swaybar
23mm rear swaybar
4-wheel disc brakes
15"x7" Hi-Tech cast aluminum wheels
P21565R15 Eagle GT's(subject to availability)
Notes:Required with HO V8, requires ordering Limited-slip rear differential. Specific springs come as part of package.

85:
12.7:1 quick ratio steering
Gas-pressurized shocks
36mm front swaybar
24mm rear swaybar
4-wheel disc brakes
16"x8" Hi-Tech cast aluminum wheels
P24550VR16 Eagle GT 'Gatorback'(subject to availability)
Notes:Specific springs come as part of package. Swaybar sizes per part listing, not published information, besides thats what my stock 85 had on it

86:
12.7:1 quick ratio steering
Gas-pressurized shocks
Special springs and bushings
36mm front swaybar
24mm rear swaybar
4-wheel disc brakes?
Limited slip rear differential
16"x8" Hi-Tech cast aluminum wheels
P24550VR16 Eagle GT 'Gatorback'(subject to availability)
Notes:Have seen 4-wheel discs as being included and not being included, which also includes or excludes limited slip rear differential. Swaybar sizes per part listing, not published information, besides thats what my stock 86 has on it

87:
12.7:1 quick ratio steering
Gas-pressurized shocks
Special springs and bushings
36mm front swaybar
24mm rear swaybar
16"x8" Cast aluminum wheels
P24550VR16 Eagle GT 'Gatorback'(subject to availability)
Notes:Rear discs not part of WS6, mandated with the 350 TPI option. This then required the purchase of the Limited-slip rear differential as well. Purchase of TPI engine requires purchase of WS6.

88:
12.7:1 quick ratio steering
Gas-pressurized shocks
Special springs and bushings
36mm front swaybar
24mm rear swaybar
16"x8" Cast aluminum wheels
P24550VR16 Eagle GT 'Gatorback'(subject to availability)
Notes:Rear discs not part of WS6, mandated with the 350 TPI option. This then required the purchase of the Limited-slip rear differential as well.

89:
12.7:1 quick ratio steering
Gas-pressurized shocks
Special springs and bushings
36mm front swaybar
24mm rear swaybar
16"x8" Cast aluminum wheels
P24550VR16 Eagle GT 'Gatorback'(subject to availability)
Notes:Rear discs not part of WS6, standard with the 350 TPI option. This included the Limited-slip rear differential as well. Purchase of TPI engine requires purchase of WS6.

90, 91, 92:
Have no idea.

Not sure about the oil cooler or aluminum driveshaft, although its not a part of the WS6 and I think both first came out in 88 following the change to serpentine.

Listings subject to change and availability. No responsibility taken for omissions or errors.

If you want to make corrections, feel free, but please have some sort of documentation.

Thanks for the info. I'm currently looking at a '91 t/a with WS6 and 5.0 TPI, however, the car has rear drum brakes. Can anyone tell me if this is correct? Is there an RPO for 4-wheel discs? Also, the wheels are 15". Its a pretty good car with 80k and is selling for $4600. All in all, I think its worth the price, unless that rearend is not correct. By the way, the anti-sway bar and trac-bar are in place.

Have you gotten the RPO's from the car? The first letter will be a "J" in the code. and there's quite a few of them to pick from. RPO decoder can be found here ThirdGen.Org's RPO Decoder Program . So by having the WS-6 option doesn't mean that it has Rear Disc's. I"m thinking it was an option on it's own aside from a package. You might try posting this topic in the History / Restoration Board

I'm pretty sure jobryan's right... my '92 WS6 T/A has rear drums on it.... 16'' rims, tho. BTW- welcome to the boards! These fellas have been a huge help to me over the past few weeks, I'm sure you'll find their advice invaluable!

I bought the 91 T/A. After some quality time with the car this weekend, I think I made out pretty good. Clean, straight, good paint, 80k, WS6 and drives great. Glad to be back in the f-body game after a 10-year Mustang hiatus. Now, just need some ideas on simple bolt-on mod's. Also would like to get together with other third-gens in the Atlanta area.
