Rear Gears

I currently have 2.93's in my car. Will 2.73's bolt into place and does anyone have a set they want to get rid of?

So you are looking for top speed and not how fast you get there. Is that right? If you go to 2.73, it will take you forever to get to 100 mph, but your rpms will be really low once you get there. I have 3.73's in my car, and it only takes a good stomp on the gas to get to 100.

Eric, why are you not going to put those gears in your car? Isnt that why you bought them? Or, are you still waiting for that 9 bolt that I am going to get you? You need to call me about that.

I have 2.93's now. As the car is now, it can B****slap the hell out of 100mph in no time. What's your definition of forever?

When I had 2.77's in the rear, it just seemed like it took a long time to get up to 100. With the 3.73's, it gets up to 100 or more much quicker. Granted, at those speeds your engine is running at a higher RPM.

Are you shooting for top speed?

Yeah, I'm shooting for top speed. However, I don't want to go to 2.56's. I do a lot of driving from time to time and when it's late at night and the freeway's clear I like to bump it up a couple of notches.

Top speed in what though. Are you doing any racing or are you just looking for top speed in general. One thing to consider also is that going down to a level that low might not allow your car to get into it's power band deep enough and could actually slow you down, which as Tom said, would take you forever to get past 100. Now unless your doing salt flat runs, this might be ok. Just my 2¢

Now on to your original question. Yes, the 2.73 should bolt into place. They should have the same size carrier. Now this is considering that this is the stock gears in the rear end. Have jun on your quest to the land of speed my friend.

I hit a truck. Was only going about 30 when I looked over my shoulder to see if any cars were coming in the other lane to get over then when I looked back all the traffic had stiopped and I had to slam on my brakes and BAAAMMMM! I hit the truck then that person hit a car then THAT person hit a car. So I caused 3 wrecks. Front end is screwed up and frame is all tweaked. so yeah. Yeah im fine. I'm surprised my hood didnt shatter just got a few cracks in it.

I'm not about racing people from a roll. That's shallow. I just like the thrill of high-speed cruising.

89frmla...how much do you want for the gears? I want to go to 3.73s, do you have the complete install kit or just the gears themselves? I have 2.73s I'll get rid of if I can get 3.73s at a decent price.
