How About Another Gathering in AZ?!
I didn't even think to check this forum untill it was too late and I missed the gathering in Tucson. Really wish I would have been able to make it. And from reading all the posts and looking at all the pics (for those of you that went to that last one, those are awesome pics!!) it looks like I wasn't the only one. I don't really know how one of these gatherings is initiated, but I'd like to find out. Maybe also this time it can be hosted in the Maricopa County (Phx, Tempe, Chadler, Mesa, ect.) and we could go to Firebird Int. Raceway. Plenty of Hooters resturants out here too, so that shouldn't be a problem either.
If A) You know more about getting one started, or B) You'd like to participate, let me know. Please. Thanks Guys!

Forgot to post this on the first one, this is the thread from the last AZ gathering in Tucson. For those of you Arizonans that didn't see it or need a refresher this will show you how much fun they had. I'm jealous, thats why I started this thread!!

PM or email cg91ta and see what he has to say. He and I worked on the Tucson gathering and we had a BLAST!
He was talking about having one this fall, after the heat goes away a little. I was hoping for one up there before June, because I might not be here that much longer.
HEY CHRIS,
Lets do it! One more time.

Obviously people are looking at this thread, if your in AZ (or willing to make a drive, lol) then just say something to the effect of "sounds fun, I might come" or "sure I'll be there if you have one" so I know what kind of a head count there might be... I just really want to know how many people I can get interested because I'd like a big turnout!!

I think it would be cool if we took a scenic drive up to sedona or something and made that a day trip, came back down to the valley and headed out to the firebird, leave firebird and go to hooters on mill ave, then if we make it a 2day thing go to the pavillions on saturday...its a lot but sounds like a lot of fun.

I'm all for a gathering. I'm not so sure about racing at Fireturd, however, I would love to see us cruise somwhere.
Here's my idea. Meet early (1 pm) Sat. afternoon at a Hooters or other restaurant. Aftyerwards we could cruise to the Pavilions car show, arriving there by 4 pm to get parking in a row. Everyone can go there way Sat. night, as the show is mostly over by 9-10 pm., or join in a cruise Sunday morning to Wickenburg/Prescott. Lunch in Prescott, pop onto the I-17 and everyone goes home from there.
I'm all for any gathering, and if I can help let me know!
I still have the website www.***.net/swgathering and the email address swgathering@***.net if we want to use that as a info/contact area.

Good to finally hear from you, Chris.
If you guys need anything from down here in Tucson, I will be the "Go To" man. Just let me know.
I really enjoyed our last gathering. I would drive up there in a heartbeat to do it again. I got some good pics of all of our cars.
I know that PatientB (James "The Box") would be willing to let me crash at his pad.

Sorry about that Tom, I had my parents in town from Minnesota, leaving me very little free time until this morning, when I got them on their plane. But then Cindy had an impacted wisom tooth pulled this morning (If she rings that bell 1 more time tonight... j/k) so I just now got the chance to sit here.
I know there were a few Phoenicians that were unable to attend Friday's activities at the last get-together due to money or time issues. Although I don't have a spare bed or a very large water heater, I'm sure I could arrange something if someone was pressed and would like to spend the night in Phoenix.
I also have a few hotel contacts, so if I could come up with a # of rooms maybe I could get a price break somewhere.
I haven't heard from PatientB in a couple months now.
As a teaser..here's a sample of the Wickenburg-Prescott Road, scale 1" = 1.5 miles:

Shoot, I didn't even think of a road trip, that does sound like fun! Although I still like the idea of going to Firebird. I may be going down there next weekend and I may just ask them what would be necessary to get like our own night, maybe they might like a buncha 3rd gens! Definetly hooters on Mill. On roadtrip destinations though, I too like the idea of Prescott.

The car show at the Pavilions is also the longest running weekly car show in the US. The front part of the lot closest to the street is reserved for true car show cars '72 and older. The back of the lot becomes available after 4 for car clubs and hobbiest vehicles. McDonald's sponsors it, has a DJ come in playing 50's music. It's a great place to bring a chair, sit around chat with your friends and watch people.

Is "The Pavillions" an actual organized event, or a bunch of people waiting for loitering tickets someday? *nudge nudge*

Too bad businesses in Tucson don't have the same foresight. Probably a lot of money to be made there instead of having to pay the city to hire more cops *just* for Friday and Saturday.

How about June 6-7th? Firebird has FND's on the 6th for those interested.
Below is a map to the Hooter's on Mill Ave. What does everyone think about a 1 pm meeting time??

Works for me. I'll have my new tires and brakes done by then. No rent-a-cops this time, right? Ha-ha!

June 6-7 works great, lets try and make that official, and meeting at Hooters is a good idea too. Although I'm not sure how well the parking will be there, but I guess we'll manage. I like that one too much to care anyways!

Hey, one more quick thing, for those of you that read this today, I'm thinking about making a trip to Firebird tonight. If you too attend, look for my car, it's Gun Metal Gray, and has "Team HORSEPOWER" accross the the windshield. Come say whats up! My name is Bruce, by the way...

the best place I have found to park for hooters is the police dept. parking lot on 5th ave. also I dont think they are having friday night drags, they are running drag boats tonight and then the monster truck thing tomorrow.
hey guys Im in....Haven't posted in awhile( moving and such)..Get the details worked out and im in....Also would anyone mind just all crashing in 1 maybe 2 hotel rooms? I know it would be cramped but not as costly...Imagine the party though hahaha...

Yeah found out about Firebird right after I made that post and didn't have time to rectify it. I don't have a problem with just a couple of hotel rooms, that would defenetly make things cheaper. If worst comes to worst, I could talk to my roommate...

AZFBA = Arizona F-Body Association (www.azfba.com) is having a BBQ May 31st. THey have invited AZLS1 to join them, and is now contemplating inviting us. The more f-bod's the merrier, or the noisier.
