Desert Rats.................

You Arizona F-Body guys are hard to find.
Hopefully you guys will be hosting another meet in AZ i would like to come (except i'd be bringing my Ford truck) My Camaro is sick been sitting for 2 years and isnt road worthy since it will never pass emissions, too many leaks, i recently did an engine/tranny rearend swap, it burst into flames twice actually couldnt put out the 1st fire had to wait for the battery cable to burn completely threw and TBI caught on fire didnt touch car for week was scared to death and I need an F-body gurue to look at it,
anyway i live way out Past Loop 303 for those that dont no where that is its the other side of Luke Air Force Base. on the White Tank Mountains. 13 minutes from buckeye. http://www.fl-thirdgen.org/camarophreak.html <there are some of my pics.

Its not really damage, just the TBI i think is screwed up sprays to much gas. Im trying to locate aTPI unit to swap in to fix it, but i havent found any Junk-yards on broadway between 7th & 35th ave that will partout a TPI intake complete , cause i kinda need to tell the computer that there is not an Automatic trans to send signals, rite now its hot wired to drive while the shift switch is in park. http://www.fl-thirdgen.org/camarophreak.html other pics R 2 big.

talk to MRT_RS about a tpi swap, he'll tell you all you need to know. HAHA but dump the tbi and go carb or tpi. just be willing to spend some money

bad thing is i need to find a used TPI I cant afford the new stuff, if i have to buy new then i will keep the tbi and cut the intake for a 4bbl tbi, i dont care much about the cond. of the harness or the TPI's looks it has to pass the emissions not beauty pagent. nor the intensive labor. ive read the posts on this site on TPI's and think that is what i want.

BTW.. id like to give u heads-up to THE BEST car club here in AZ ... www.AZFBA.com check it out.. sabatian knows abotu the guys and such.. just cant find the $20 to join.. yet he "is building a 383" (damn we need an OWNED smilie here on thirdgen.org )

as far as carb/tpi: trust me. go TPI. u wotn pass emissions unless u either but the q-jey back on the intake and mayeb get the car running.. or build a really weak engine.. were as u go TPI, well// u can see what i have done so far.. and that was with NO smog stuff at all..

i have all the emission crap for the TBI including that worthless airpump, the exhaust leaks really bad im not sure if the Y-pipe is good or the cat is too small it the same one off my 2.8l i know the tailpipes are cracked at the rear but near the engine it sounds way worse. its bad enough that the car loses power after 3500 rpm if i can get one of you guys to give a phone number, or ill give mine over a PM i'll start it so you can hear it. its bone stock, maybe the headers are cracked?

chris ask mike how much he'll charge me to put a tpi on top of my engine and wire it up.. otherwise i'll have to do it myself it wouldnt be fun...i could buy all the parts and what not over time..
i know i can find a kit cheap (tpi) i am just looking for some power and tune-ability (ghetto vocab).. tbi just doesnt have all the tuners like a carb engine or tpi engine does...
chris havent you talked to sabatian yet?? Ask him what i found for him.. Its red and its alot faster then what he's got.. oh yeah its not tbi.. sorry sabatian spilled your beans.

Shawn

i need a head swap/cam swap/rear end swap/and which ever injection i go with.. who wants to help?

well i have done both tpi and carb swap and i would have to say that carb is a lot easyer then tpi swap but i know that the tpi swap is posabale. for anybody that wants to do a tpi swap the best and esayest way to do it it to find a doner car. You could probaly pull it off with out one but it would be to hard and more inportently it would cost to much money. you could buy some peace of junk iroc or formula for less then 1000 bucks some where i am sure. i have bought one my self. but if you did a carb swap you would have to buy most likely all new stuff but less expensive stuff. you can still get a carbed car through emissions it will just be a lil harder then a tpi setup.

Well, I don't know when that will be happening...I just tried to have one about a month ago, and I had the HUGE turnout of 3 people (that would be INCLUDING me!) I had around 15 people say they would be there. Those people shall remain name-less. Hopefully when it get colder outside I can get another one going that THE PEOPLE THAT SAY THEY ARE COMING ACUTALLY SHOW UP. I'm not bitter, don't worry.

Good luck with your car though. I may be a little bit of a drive from you but if you want PM me and I'll give you my cell number. I'm also looking for that $10-$20 to join AZFBA....:lala:

Switched to a SR intake so I removed the LTR stuff.

I have a ported plenum (top is polished), edlebrock runners and edelbrock lower intake that is sitting in the garage. There is a very small crack on the front corner of the lower intake, in front of the first bolt hole. I never had a problem with it sealing, ever. Other than the little crack, everything is in good shape.

PM me if interested.

Actually i have found some cheap ez mods to do on the TBI, to gain some power out of it other then just buying a 4bbl unit.
The TPI isnt totally out of the question except for the cost and install time, well the biggest problem i see with most tpi units on ebay is they are in need of new parts like fuel injectors and wiring harness if i have to replace that then why not just buy a brand new setup its actually cheaper in long run then nickel and diming myself to death.
