Ominous,

Nice numbers all around.

We should line them up one day before the weather gets hot. I am near Gilbert and Baseline. If it matters, my only street tire is a drag radial.

I will be near Power and McKellips tomorrow night. Should I bring the car?

Anytime, we can run em right down those blessed new on ramps on the 60. I usually hit about 110mph if I put it to the ground merging into the 60.

However I would much prefer to do the deal at the track. That way no chance of drag racing citation, and jail time.

This Friday at Firebird?

Also if you still wanna hit the dyno let me know.

Omin,

Running a 385 (383, bored). AFRs, Superram, small Lunati cam, and all the usual bolt-ons.

I dynoed 300rwhp and 366 tq, on the stock fuel pump. I don't remember the outside temps, but I do remember it was pretty hot still. My A/F ratio was always higher than 15/1. Since I put the new pump in, the car is definitely faster. I don't think I am building the same tq as you though.

My car won't pass tech because I don't have a cut-off switch for my relocated battery, that is suppose to be mounted on the bumper. I am looking at moving it back to the front and buying one of those light weight batteries that I have been hearing about. It will be a couple months before I mess with that though.

Yes, I am familar with the ramps that you refer to, especially, the last one. I am down, if you are. But, I had a change in plans and I won't be near your side of town tonight, maybe tomorrow night?!

If you don't feel like waiting, I know a good spot where we won't have to worry about traffic or anything else. It's closer to my place (101 and 60).

I have a 385 as well, .040 overbore on the block.

What are your cam specs, is it roller? Mine are 224/230 .535.540 on 1.6, roller.

What exhaust and TB you got? I have the frggin stock 48mm TB in place and it is choking the motor and keeping my power down.

You still wanna hit the dyno for some WOT tuning? Get things in order for your spark and fuel.

Even if you cant race you still outa hit the track with us FRI, just for fun.

I will have to pull the specs from my cam card, but I remember the specs to be around 219/230 and .479/.49x on 1.5 rockers. I plan on upgrading to 1.6s in the near future but I want to see what I can get out of the current combo.

I am running a ported, stock TB that is currently at 52mm. I thought about going with a 58mm but I don't think I am going to turn enough rpm to warrant the cost and minimal gain I would get from the 58mm. Unless someone proves me wrong that has a similar combo...

I definitely want to hit the dyno for WOT tuning, but I am leaving town Saturday and will be gone for nearly two weeks (going to Florida for some r&r). If I can schedule an appointment to get in to Street Flight on 4/24, than I will, as long as you are able to attend too. We can compare notes when we meet up...Since I am leaving town EARLY Saturday morning, I doubt I will make it to Firebird on Friday.

Let me know if you are still interested in meeting up later this week when I head out your way, with or without my car.

What did it cost you to have your TB worked up to 52mm? I need a bigger TB real bad.

Out my way, we are both in West Mesa.

I am gonna be busy as heck through Thursday afternoon, after that my weekend starts. So maybe we meet up for Happy Hour Thurs or Fri, Esams just moved right near by as well.

As I said before I will be happy to help anyone with tuning that has a EEPROM setup already. So far thats you and Bill.

Can't make it Friday. Have to work.

I looked on the Firebird schedule, they do not have the 9th listed and a street drags day. Did I just miss it?

Ok now guys, so we have some interest in doing Speedworld this FRI.

Who is down for sure?

We should get together before the track for some beer and BBQ.

I know for a fact that ESAMS, 79_EFIZ, and myself are going.

Who else is down for sure? Beer, brats, burgers sound good?

Omin,

We are on the same side of town. Very cool! I am down for beer and bbq anytime, so don't make this a one time event when I am out of town.

I remember spending about $100.00 to get my TB ported. This about 4 years ago and it was done when I still lived in Florida. So, I don't have a local lead on who does that type of work here.

I have a set of M&Hs (305/40/16) that are a few years old but I only made 6 passes on them. They are mounted on the 16 inch TA wheels. I have driven these tires on the street about 3 months ago and they still hook. If you want to borrow them you will need to come by my house to pick them up tonight or tomorrow night.

Bruce, Have you meet Omin? I don't mind if you show up to watch, but I would prefer if you rode with Omin so that there weren't a bunch of cars. The place I have in mind will be a quick run and we won't want to hang around afterwards.

Hmm interesting, I'll have to call em or something, but firebird does suck like that. Eh well from what I have experienced speedworld is better anyways, dont have to wait in the staging lanes for 8hrs inbetween passes...What time are the drags at speedworld on Friday? I have gone to speedworld on weds. and saturdays but never a friday.

Thanks for the offer on the M&H slicks, much apreaciated.

As we discussed earlier, lets meet up tomorrow about 6ish.

Have a beer or 2, run the cars, shoot the sheet, and exchange the tires.

Anyone else interested in meeting up tomorrow, just post.

West Mesa/East Tempe area.

fast86,

Omin and I are meeting up tomorrow night, as I won't be able to make it to the track Friday night.

Ominous 87,

I am going to throw out a couple places to meet tomorrow. McDuffy's (on Southern, near Alma School)
Old Chicago (on Alma School, south of US 60)

Both of these places have a decent happy hour, but I am open to other suggestions too.

Bruce,

I am cool with you going as long as Omin is.

I was trying to drop the hint to everyone else that this wasn't going to be a "city-wide event."

Come one come all, LOL!

Anyone can show up to down a beer with us.

However we are not going to play follow the leader around Mesa as we roll out to run the cars, just might draw a bit to much attention.

The last thing I need is ticket.

Well the turnout was fairly shallow.

ESAMS had some sheet goin on and couldnt make it.

But: Bruce, Scott, and Myself did show.

We downed some brew and pushed some stick around the pool table. Fun was had by all.

Then it was off to the races for 92TA385 Vs. OMINOUS_87.

We both run Superram 385 motors with 3000rpm stalled 700R4s backed up by 3.73 gears and drag radials.

The cars were close BUT I think one did pull harder.

I will let 92TA385 finish the story.

Good times were had and it was good to meet with a couple people from this site.

Ominous definitely has the stronger car!

From a roll a 20mph roll, he put somewhere around 4 cars on me before we shut it down. I panicked when he initially pulled from the start and hit the rev limiter in first gear, but it would not have made any difference with the end result.

Ran from a stop twice. The first time, I got traction and he didn't. The second time, we both spun and I hung in there through first gear but as soon we hit second gear, he started pulling away.

Ominous,
The M&Hs hooked best on my car when I ran about 13psi in them. If you get that car to dead hook, you should be able to hit your target ET. Good luck at the track and post your results (ET, MPH, 60').

Don't think I have any huge wrenching issue. Just need to put on some front struts.

Other than that my issues are all tuning.

Well, we got screwed last night.

The rains rolled in. We called the track at 6:00PM, they informed us that the rains had passed them already and the track was dry and racing was just about to begin.

We show up at 8:15PM, the power is out, they inform us that the power had been down since 7:30PM or so. At this point they called all racing for the night.

Well go figure, nothing to report at this time.

Yep last night sucked ***!!! I did see your car however when we were leaving the track. Oh oh and the greatest part of the night, we got to stand around in a Lowes parking lot for 2hrs waiting on a tow truck because my buddy bent a pushrod, and the rocker fell off the pushrod.
