Charity Event Ideas
Hey Fellow Third-Genners, thought I'd pass on some info about how some of our folks have been helping support some charity events in the North Texas area, plus asking for ideas others have done successfully.....
The North Texas Third Gen Association (http://www.NTTGA.net) recently helped the Texas Motor Speedway (http://www.texasmotorspeedway.com) raise a total of $14,000 after expenses for the TMS Children's Charities. NTTGA spent about 5 hours at TMS on August 14th talking to other 3rd-Genners, met some new folks and introduced them to our club, helped raise $14K for the kids, and even got to make a few 80MPH+ laps around the TMS speedway driving our own cars in the process. This was the second one of the TMS charity events NTTGA was part of this year, and we're looking at other ideas to help out a little bit for some of those less fortunate than ourselves as well (like a women's shelter or some other relief foundation/group).
Just wanted to pass on how some of us are helping others (and in this case had some fun as well). With a minimal expense and effort, anyone can help out some others in need.
We're also on the lookout for ideas from other groups on things they have done that we might be able to try out some variation of as well.
Have a Great Day!

I have some experience with charity events having put a few together myself but not with car clubs. Try to have things that will attract people to come to the event. Celebrities always help even if they are local radio people etc. Make a lot of phone calls and ask people if they know anyone important. There is almost always somebody who is connected with celebrities.
Businesses are always willing to donate free stuff. We got a raffle going for a free weekend car from a local dealer. It was a new corvette. Sold lots of tickets. Car rental places will give away free weekend use of a vehicle with small restrictions. Local firefighters came with their truck for the kids to climb around on. They always attract attention. Had a huge american flag flying on top.

We also have had organizations in this area (the local zoo and little league) that raffle off a vehicle or 4 wheeler etc. You find someone to get the vehicle at a certain price and the club buys it outright. Then you sell tickets for whatever you decide (say 50 bucks each). Then you have stipulations that if you dont sell enough tickets to cover the cost of the item then you refund their money. It shouldnt be an issue if you buy and raffle something that is popular. It can even be something other than cars etc.
PS: How did you know I was a skinhead?
