Track Times Dec 3
Just want to see what everyone ran this Friday. This was the 1st time i had run my car down the strip and got a 15.191 91.98 MPH.
I was wondering if that is a normal time for my car or not. Im sure i could use a tune up, and stuff, but im not sure with the MPH if it was more my driving or the car itself that caused the low times? Speak freely i want to know what to work on if its me too

Guy I used to work with had a stock 350tpi/700r4 outta a 92 Z28 (engine still stock) in a 90 IROC vert and his ran a 14.5. Don't know the MPH, but it did it rather consistantly... You still feel iffy about your launching? What kinda 60' times were ya runnin?

My last run was against my roommate in his 86 Bird with a 350. I cut a .09 light and he cut a .36. He caught me and beat me by one car length, the bastard
. But that was my best run 15.011...so close yet so far! My best MPH was 95.75 but I couldn't do burnouts or launch all night which I'm assuming is a result of my clutch being near death, oh well. I'm sending my computer out today to get the Prom stuff put in, and should be goin back next week to get into the stupid 14's

So I was wondering how the races went last night and who actually showed up? Can someone post some times?

I ran twice and had a 15.6 both times. One with a 2.2 60' and one with a 2.4 60'. The second time was the worst I have ever spun at the line. Track was very cold. No traction. But I just had regular time too.

As far as turn-out is concerned....I'm still in shock:

I think I'm missing one or two, and on top of that there were a few other random thirdgens as well! Aside from the Tucson gathering, this was BY FAR the best TGO turnout I've seen!

Yeah i was having huge traction problems that night. I couldnt seem to get a decent launch, even if i babied it off the line then punched it they would break loose. I have 245 50 16s all the way around, my roomate was telling me to stick some 275s on the rear to help. But i think a tune up would help out a lot. I had a small miss awhile back and replaced my cap and rotor, but never did the plugs and wires. I will be getting those for X mas. Project Iroc, you ran a sub 14 with the same set up i have lol, WTF !! I have a stock motor ( i put on a cone K & N on the end of the intake tube) and a different muffler. And i have a 2200 stall converter. Do you really think that a tune up would drop my time that much? The car runs fine, no misses or anything. I know i have ring blow by, maybe thats what is hurting my motors performance.

Tony
bastards wouldnt let me run, drop tops MUST HAVE helmets...
bullcrap... anyways... im sure i would have ran mid-hi 15's on good runs... eh, whatever though, after seeing the turnout there at the bird, i dont think ill be going back to race for a while, i need to have a lil more work done before i run... new stall, heads, cam, chip... then i should be 14's... still fun though

ok it's preaty esay. you see you have traction problems that first lil group of numbers is tilling you how long it takes for you to go from the line to 60 feet away, and yes 2.356 is a long time. if you put a set of slicks on your car or changed your driving habbits so that you could pull off a 2.0xx 60' then you would run some where in the 14.8, 14.9 area. wich sounds alot more like what you should be running if you are trapping 91mph. MPH is what really matters when you race on the street. NOT 1/4 MILES TIMES.

Well I was going off what he ran not what he had. I don't have any idea what he has under the hood, just telling hem what he would run if he where to get some traction. I don't know very many l98's in stock shape that will trap some thing better then a 91mph. But I bet that there are a cauple out there that will.

If thats a 91mph trap speed in tucson, I'd call that normal for a stock 350tpi, but in phoenix, thats pretty low. I know for a fact that cars that drive up to phoenix to run usually go 2-4 mph faster.

relax dude... I used to have a huge fro sticking out of the t tops in the 85.
It's going to be a while before the Formula goes back to the track. I might grow mine back
I still need and LG4 intake (H code 305) intake if ANYONE has one.

What do you need that for? Those things are junk. Is it going on to somthing that you want to make somewhat fast?

NO i don't have one but if you want to make "this certian car" fast then you just might want to put somthing on there that is a lil better then a lg4 intake. What is it going on?
I'm giving up on my TBI project. I'll resume it when funding and time allows. Right now the Formula has been retired to "daily driver" status and the IROC is going to be the track car.
