Summer BBQ bash????
Just wondering if we are gonna have any kind of big thirdgen BBQ bash this summer (or maybe fall)? Just bring whatever car you can really.I'm sure with enough planning we can all figure a centrally located spot to meet up. I realize this has been tried before but maybe if we go into this with a positive outlook we can make it work. My car should be more than ready to make the trip by then. Right now I take it all the way to cottonwood without any issues. Thats 45 miles down and back up the mountain. I know it's far for me to go but I'm willing to do it if you guys are. I'll even pitch in for food and or park fees etc....Make it so!!
Thats a kick a$$ idea man. I would definately come. As far as location ideas maybe we could just hit up a big park somewhere for some BBQ fun, and of course the occasional 5k RPM hello as people pull in. Only thing off the top of my head right now would be like Kiwanis park, Tempe Town Lake, Lake pleasant or another surrounding lake....

Yeah, c'mon man...I know this has been tried several times before but someone needs to step up and help get this thing moving. I have no idea what parks or lakes are down near the phoenix area except Lake Pleasant. I may even be able to get my buddy to bring his boat or maybe I can rent a jet ski for the day. Let's do this....
Summer Meeting
OK this thing sounds great. i have an idea for a meeting spot. There is a huge parking lot area at the beginning area of the south mountain in south phoenix. There are ramadas and bbq pits. I figure that would be good becuase there should be alot of space and some shade. I could ask the rangers about it if oyu guys are interested.

Sure I'm in.
As far as when to do it. Prevost will be out here the last week of June. But if we so that I would opt for an evening BBQ. Probably will be a little toasty for a lunch time BBQ.

OK, but it was already mentioned for June but if everyone is ready sooner then lets do it. As far as hot goes, thats why it was mentioned to get to a lake.

And I think it should be a SAT event just because of going till 11pm on a Sunday then going home and having to get up early the next morning to go to work could get rough on people who have to do lengthy driving to get there
just an idea but what if we did do the South Mtn thing on a weekend afternoon then after that drove right down the freeway to Firebird and all had a lil fun at the track? Good idea, aint it ?

As far as myself attending, I'm totally game as long as I'm not working. I'd request the time off, but seeing as how my first day is next week, AND I'm gonna want time off 2 1/2 weeks after the end of June (my 21st
) I'm gonna have to leave this one to chance... Joined: Apr 2004

I could be wrong, but I don't think Firebird is doing Sat. night drags right now, I think they are only on Friday nights.

sounds like a good time to me. Ill keep checking to see if we figure out a date to do this, i would suggest somewhere up north more so cause its gonna be a hot son of a anywhere around town, even at roosevelt or pleasant. Cottonwood or Sedona or payson, if people are up to it would be better, but then again those are long drives.
payson would be fun if it wasnt so far, i know a pretty good spot out there that i go camping at... but yeah, pleasant is pretty close to speedworld... that would be really sweet if we did that... grub, racing, 3rdgens... who needs anything else??

I know someone said earlier a certain person was gonna be around last week of June. why dont we shoot for that at Lake Pleasant. Then we can scoot over to speedworld for a run or two. I can bring the slicks, food and some other things if necessary. I really want this to work out for us all this time. It will be fun. Start saving some gas money now...

I'm sure someone can give you directions when the time comes or you can follow someone over.

I don't have a problem with pleasent. It's just a matter of being able to get the time off of my new job. If I got the time off, I'm there...
