Lowering Loaded CO emissions?

Hey guys,

I replaced my cat and got my smog pump working and my loaded CO is still failing at 4.43%(spec is 1.20)(1984 TA, Carb'd 305). Does anyone have any ideas for lowering it or be willing to come help me out as I'm out of ideas and almost out of time? Also, does anyone in Tucson have a CO meter I could borrow for a couple hours? I have to be out of town by Saturday at the latest as I start a new job on Monday in Cali. Thanks in advance.

Automax at Grant and Dodge (Richey actually) will set carb'ed engines for emissions.

Ask for Silver (thats the ASE Cert. Mechanic there)

Thanks for the heads up on the mechanic but I figured it out. My timing was WAAAAAY off to the tune of about 3" before the BTDC gauge on the front of the motor. The genius before me never set it right apparently. I've now got the Loaded CO down to 1.95(from 4.43 before adjusting the timing, but after installing the air pump), Idle CO to 0.22 and the others down to under 100 so I just need to retard it a few degrees more and I should pass.

If you're moving to CA, set the base timing to factory spec and get it tested. CA will check the timing when you smog it there and it has to be at factory spec unlike getting it to pass in AZ.

Well I'm gonna cheat since I'm a "contractor" I don't have to register my car there as long as I keep my arizona drivers license and don't rent a house/apartment. I'm renting a room from a friend.

Re: Lowering Loaded CO emissions?

It failed AGAIN!!!! Now I have to go spend $75 just for diagnostic plus whatever time and parts it takes to get the damn thing fixed and HOPEFULLY the shop can fix it. Otherwise I'm screwed 6 ways from Sunday. I'm at my wit's end with this damn car....
