Sorry I wont be there, I am going to Unversal Studios today, and Disneyland tomorrow, as part of my birthday weekend.

Oh, and in your sig, a 305 LB9 automatic with a single catalytic converter is the 205 HP version. The 230 HP version is the LB9 5-speed with dual cats.

Sorry

Kevin, sorry you cant make it, but sounds like you are going to have some fun for your b-day. I have lived in so cal for 19years and still have never been to Universal Studios. We are having a canyon run over Mt Baldy on the 18th, maybe you can make it to that. Also, about the sig, Im aware that its the 205hp version, but with my mobds done so far and showing 192hp at the rear wheels and acounting for the 18% drivetrain loss, that comes to 226.6, OK!! so i rounded up a little!!! SHEESH! =) Im guessing the T-5s are more effecient? or do they have different cams or what?

Heh, it's the last line that explains the short notice. This meeting is a regularly shceduled meeting and the location was chosen a couple of weeks ago.

No, its all in the exhaust. The single cat versions have the small exhaust manifolds, small y-pipe, small catalytic converter, and small i-pipe. That accounts for the 25 HP difference. Engines are rated at the flywheel, before the transmission. Not at the rear wheels.

Wow, I didnt know they actually used different manifolds and y-pipe on 5 speeds. Im gussing its time for headers and y-pipe, but instead of reusing my 3in and putting on headers and pipe, i need the whole system redone. Reason is that the preveous shop made the pipe too close to the axle and the bar above the PHB, so on sharp or jolty bumps, it hits bad and make ugly noises. I may just have your dad make me a new one since everyone says hes bad *** with exhaust. I should cruise by one day.

It was fun. Down on the PCH leg of the cruise I could smell the campfires along the beach. That's one of the advantages of top-down cruising in a convertible. Boy that left hand turn onto Newport Blvd was interesting. I'm glad someone had done that cruise before. Coming back home on 55 through South OC brought back memories. It will be 2 years this June since I last worked in Santa Ana just off the Dyer exit. I'd cruise down to Newport Beach at lunch for errands or lunch occasionally. I also had another reminder of that shop this week as well. I'm using the same brand of water-soluble coolant on my mill as we used on the CNC's and cross-cut saws. The smell from the coolant is very familiar. Lon

I could smell the camp fires too, and i had the T-tops on. Made me want to go and catch a mellow or something. The turnout was larger than expected and it was great meeting the new people. For those who showed up and would like to consider membership, give me an e-mail at ChevyGuy19@hotmail.com with the exception of 2 people ALL members attended and with 18, we pretty much over ran Sonics. The frustrating part is that I called ahead of time at about 2pm to give them the heads up that we were comming, and they were like "ok, see you when you get here" then when we got there, they said "You should have called ahead of time, we would have roped off the stalls for you to pull your cars into" I was a little upset that there was no communication between managers. Oh well, next time I will call and bug. Cool part was that a mustang club started to meet there, but when they saw our 18 F-bodies, they decided to pack up and leave, all 4 of them! Ha Ha, reminded me of when GS3 was new and It concisted of Myself, Andy, Lon, Randy and Danny.

Its not really a 5-speed vs automatic thing, its a single cat vs dual cat thing. The 89-92 single cat 305 cars got the TBI exhaust. The dual cat cars got the 350 exhaust. And yes, adding headers, y-pipe, and 3" exhaust will really wake up your car. Check out the Exhaust board for the details on the SLP header Group Purchase.
