Yosemite 2002 Pics

I just got back from Yosemite National Park with my girlfriend. I spent the weekend there from Thursday till Sunday. We had a blast, from rafting down the river Friday, to hiking thru the forest Saturday, and seeing a BEAR and lots of deer!
More info on the park itself is available at http://www.yosemitepark.com/

Here are the pics. http://para.noid.org/~thresher/image...2&dispsize=800
I'll describe what each one is:

429: The top is Nevada Falls, and the bottom is Vernal Falls, seen from atop Glacier Point at 7200'
430: Half Dome from the same point
431: I zoomed back to get both Half Dome and Nevada Falls. The trees blocked Vernal Falls
432: A different view of the two falls.
433: Half Dome, and Mirror Lake in the valley below it.
434: The Merced River, and Camp Curry where we launched our rafts. Those dots on the river are rafts.
435: The Ahwahnee Hotel, in the center.
436: Yosemite Falls is on the left, Ahwahnee on the right, and the Visitors Center is in the middle.
437: Yosemite Falls
438: At the base of the falls, hidden in the trees, is Yosemite Lodge, where we stayed.
439 & 440: The bear we saw at Glacier Point. He was just a little guy.
441 & 443: We hiked over a mile to see Taft Point and these fissures. Some were wide enough to see the valley below, but pics 442, 444, and 445 didnt come out. :-/
446 & 447: The top and bottom halves of Bridalveil Falls.

Last years pics are available here:

Nice pics Kevin! To get up to Half Dome, is it that long strairway, kinda over looks the cliffs as you go up? If it is I remember that very well. My sister is afraid of hieghts and literally froze at the rest stop. We (the family) left her there while my brother and I raced to the top. Then foolishly (for our then age) climbed over the railing to get a closer look down the side of the mountain.

I can't believe you guys didn't camp there? You wusses and your cabins. I take it, it wasn't raining this time, as opposed to your last time out (based on the pic of you and your lady)?

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing. Glad you had a good time and didn't fall off a cliff or get eaten by a bear.

Did you do any fishing?

George, I did all the camping I wanted as a teenager in Boy Scouts. Give me a bed and a shower at night now. The hike to Half Dome is all day, and neither of us felt like it. Maybe next year.

Dwayne, nope, no fishing, but we did see fish in the river.

My cousin live in Oakhurst (hwy 41 out of Fresno) which is south entrance. I go every year to a fam reunion at Bass Lake and we rent a house on the lake. It's real nice up there. Never been to Yose though. maybe this year we can make a day trip in. I'm like Dwayne.....Bed and shower unless I'm at Glamis

Aaww, come on guys, camping is the sheeoot. Nothing compares to searching for a nice flat spot, then propping the tent close to darkness. Later, after almost lighting up the forest from the camp fire, find out you get to sleep on top of the sharp rock. And finally, wake up to having the bears eat all your food stored outside.

Sounds like loads of fun George. Or you put your tent over a gopher hole and have them bite a hole in the bottom of the tent then join you during the night and you wake up to the scare of your life with rodents in the tent
