Need a new radiator...

Well, my radiator has been hanging in there and putting up a good fight, (1/2 dozen road-trips through CA/NV deserts, another 1/2 dozen climbing mountains)
but lately I can't keep my car under 220* without putting the heater on! So, it's time to let her retire.

I figured this would be the best place to post since you guys and gals know what we have to put up with,
and might know of a local place that sells them so I won't have to wait a week or two for the thing to show up at my door.

It seems like Griffin radiators are the way to go, but I still obviously want/need to keep my A/C, and would like it to be a fairly easy install
(i.e. not having to make custom mounts, cutting sheet metal, etc).

Any ideas/comments/suggestions?

A new factory radiator will only run you about a $120.

Sorry for the long delay.

Ok, where should I begin? I'll try to make it short and I'll give you the sugarcoated version.

I ordered an 'high performance / heavy duty' radiator from... *cough* eh, Autozone. Well, this was Sat. 21st...
Today I go to pick it up, after waiting all day for them to call and say "it's been canceled" or "it's gonna be another couple of days" etc... At 3 o'clock I finally decide to tear the old one out so it won't take as long to put the new one in. The radiator was supposed to arrive by 5.

Well, I get there at 7 only to find out the order has been canceled!!?!!? :nono:

"Ehhh... hmmmm, ehh yeah it got canceled right before closing yesterday... Hmmm, it should have come up on the computer this morning... hmm, wow. That's weird... Eh, you want me to order it again?" - to which my response was :sillylol:

Needless to say I headed on over to Kragen and got the factory replacement. And boy howdie did it make a difference! I drove for 20 min with the A/C going full blast, 3 WOT's and 10 mins through city driving BEFORE I needed to turn the fan on! (and this was at about 220* . I guess I could have let it go a little bit higher but I get nervous when it goes past 220*)
Also, this radiator came with a lifetime warranty and if I ever want to upgrade to the 3-row radiator I only have to pay the difference! Now that's more like it!

Ok, end of story time. Now go to bed!
(and thanks for the help)

I have Be-Cool rads in two other vehicles of mine- one being an 89chev 1/2 ton worktruck that is always carrying a load. Coolant temp stays at 180* always (uphill,downhill-Doesn't matter) even on the hottest days. Trans temp stays at 170* also but with the trans, I route it through the radiator first, then through a Derale 8-pass with an eletric fan and thermostat just for the extra heat stress from the loads I carry in the bed.

I am deffinately going to purchase my third Be-Cool radiator before next summer and put it into my Camaro, They are well worth the money in my other two vehicles.
