This is Killing me

My finances are having a hard time keeping up with this car....I think ive solved most of its problems but it is running rich and it is eating my gas like no tomorrow....Just a trip to Irwindale and back or LA and back just kills the tank of gas......I think gas takes a nice big chunk of my paychecks alone...when i bought this car gas prices were normal and I honestly didnt think they would go up like they have....After a good amount of work the car runs great but that has killed my funds...i just dont know anymore...something a little more reliable is starting to sound tempting..im sure with a little tuning and work it could run even better but i cant even afford that

Why not ask someone local to you to take a look at the car and you'll buy them lunch? Perhaps you have a bad O2 sensor or something?

Seriously Take this as a suggestion.Try driving the car like you had an "Egg" under the gas Pedal. When I could keep fluid in the tranny of the "Damage Magnet" I got 20mpg easy. I get on average 21mpg out of my TA and thats driving the 405 at 11am.It can be done.

kevin, I did, the mechanic across the street helps me out and we replaced the 02 sensor and status went from rich to fluxuating from rich to lean so it did make a difference but it is still running rich and ive been real easy on the pedal lately too....i also discovered that since sunday the temp has been acting up....Ill get it checked out as soon as I can
