Need help from the experienced...

Dont know exactly what this sensor is called, but its located right above the Oil filter on the block... Does this unit control anything with the computer that would cause the car to die?

Here is what I have checked on my z28 so far...

New Fuel Filter, New FPR, checked fuel rail for fuel pressure, and checked injector pulse... I have no injector pulse... *checked with Ohm Meter*

Here is what the car is doing... Started 1 month ago, Driving down the road, the engine just quit, as if someone turned off the key. Car wouldnt restart.... After tinkering with it for a few days (checking the above mentioned stuff) Here is what I found. The car will start and run for 5 min or so after sitting all night, then the car will just DIE, as if the key was turned off. I checked the pulse at the #2 Injector (easy to get to) and here is what I found... With the car runnning, the injectors fluctuate like it should, rises with rpms, etc. When the car dies, the injectors go dead, and when I try and refire the car, the injectors show nothing... this repeats... If I let the car sit for a day, it will fire again the next, die after 5 min of idle... and the story repeats... I dont know what else to check.

I have swapped the computer AND chip to test, and same thing happens. I have spark, I pulled a plug wire, used a spare plug grounded on the manifold and had a healthy spark durring crank, yet the car wont start... any clue? I dont know where to go from here... Thanks!!!

Define "healthy spark." Sounds a bit like what happened when my ignition module died. The injectors have to recieve word from the computer to fire, which relies of reference pulses from the distributor to show it what's going on, so if the injectors aren't firing, that could be the problem.

The oil pressure sensor has to see some kind of oil pressure to allow the engine to start, although I don't think it will make the car die.

Well, compared to the "weak" spark I saw on my buddys car, compared to mine which was very bright and thick. Where is the Ignition Control Module Located? And will it allow the car to run just fine till it goes into closed loop, then shut off? Or is this more sensor related?

Actually the oil pressure sensor will let the car start without oil pressure, but if it doesn't see oil pressure within a couple of seconds, it kills the fuel pump.

Replace the ignition module. It does several functions, one of which is to pulse the injectors. When it over heats it will die, and yet sometimes still make the coil send out a spark. It's mounted inside the dist. and must have heatsink compound on it to survive.

Dear Jason,
I agree with Don. Take out the Ignition Module and take it to your local Auto Zone and they will test it for free. Make sure when you re-install it you coat the bottom of it with Di Electric Grease or it will short out.

They will test yours but don't buy one of there piece "Wells" units. If you need a new one buy a good o' A/C Delco unit- they are work horses, nothing is better made.
