The bird is back =D

Well I picked up the Trans Am yesterday from Don's shop. That thing has some power to it that's for sure. Nice to be driving the bird again instead of the Toyota. I missed that V8 rumble I would like to thank Don for all the hard work he put in the car with all the troubles it was giving him. Now to get it smogged and get the right injectors off John Millican.

hey nigel, have you ever gotten your car smogged with all that stuff? i'm curious as to how the smog people treat an engine swap like that... i plan to do one in the not too near future, but i plan to do one nonetheless, and want to know as much as possible to make it happen.
oh, by the way, we just happen to have picked the same exact color combo for our cardomain sites... interesting coincidence.

It's going to be smogged in the next day or so. I will let you know the results.

A 350 TPI engine is an option in our thirdgens, so its a perfectly legal swap. You dont even have to go to the smog referee to get it recertified. But it always depends on how strict your smog check tech is about it.

Even though I didn't go through a swap I still got a bit of a hassle at the smog shops; since I had to go to a Test-Only. At one shop the guy just started at my motor running for about 15 minutes, argued with me that I didn't have an EGR, then when I told him where to look he argued that it wasn't an EGR, then he grabbed the mirror looked under the car, saw that my exhaust was all there and then told me he wouldn't smog me.
The next place I went first test no problem - I didn't even fiddle with the Fuel Pressure or anything I just drove it right in with the settings I use for the track/street and she passed with no problems. Only thing I made sure to take along was the Carb-OE numbers for the headers and intake other than that I told them the motor is stock

P.S. I know I could have filed a complaint with the smog board over the first shop - I just figured it wasn't worth my time.

Easy James lets let him get the car to a point where it will stay together before we line up. Trust me the only way Nigel is going to get around me is with red paint down the side of his bird. Besides I’ve got my sights set on more prominent individuals. The spawn of Satan is in waiting in the shadows gentlemen, prepare yourselves for a force that can only be described as noxious. The sun is starting to set on the playful days of the Red Rocket boys. What comes next is the mystery…

No racing for me for a little bit. I am just enjoying the new horsepower under my right foot It's great not having to push the car to keep up with traffic. I have been good hardly ever even taking the car past 1/4 throttle. Only glitch so far is the wire crumbled off the temp sensor on the engine.

ohhhhhhhhh c'mon now, I'm sure he'll get it figured out soon enough. You have to admit high 13's for that little car is pretty damn impressive for a $20K.

I'm still working on why my car is pulling out of PE. I have a couple more things I need to do to it and then I'll focus on that issue. I have a couple ideas but I still need to attack the problem methodically with due diligence.
