help....

first post.....hi guys.

found boards on accident. nice place, wish i knew about sooner.

anyway, i got a '90 firebird with the tiny 6....which has just died. I dont feel like paying out the rear to replace the head gasket as i paid under 2k for the car in the first place. Its old, has about 120k on odometer, but looks great and im in love with her.

So im torn, do i spend the 1k to replace head gasket? Can i do an engine swap(im dont have skills or tools to do it myself)? Do i just junk her and look for something new-er :-/

any advice would be greatly apreciated.

thnx,

jrsjkd

Welcome to the boards

I would say if you really enjoy the car and would like to upgrade to a V-8 it's possible but it's going to cost more than a 1,000 head gasket fix, then you have to look on the down side 120k on a v-6 is it worth the trouble No.. Get in touch with Dyno Don he is the expert on V-6 to V-8 swaps.. His email # are in the Southern Cal friendly companies sticky on this board..

Peace

Head gasket shouldn't be that hard to do... Certainly not $1,000. Heck you could get a cam, and head work for that. Like Branden said talk to dyno don. Will be able to give you all of your options.
