Saw where Russ posted this on the SC3G web site but I can't log on and post anymore. Anyways my wife and I will be attending. Last I heard it would be at Knotts Berry Farm. Allen

I know it is to be at Knotts, but I can't remember date and time. I don't think it is posted anywhere.

Isnt it Dec. 4th (In lieu of our regular meeting)?

What's the status on it? There hasnt been any discussion of it, so I am wondering if there is a solid/date location?
If its Dec. 4th, thats less than 2 weeks away.

It pains me to do this guys but I’m sticking to my guns in this whole Knott’s thing. I know I wasn’t at the meeting to voice my opinion but hey again better late than never. 1 to 2 hour wait to experience mediocre food, horrible service, and mess hall style seating. C’mon!?!?!?!

Honestly, I would like the Cheesecake factory more ( alot closer to me, better food etc) , however, im not as passionate as you in this subject.
Im willing to go with the flow on this one.
Are your experiences that bad at Knotts? Is that where James rejected your indecent proposal?

Not so much…we had an amazing evening planned. Then it all went sideways. I found him fraternizing with a much “larger” gentleman in the restroom shortly before we sat down. Something about him looking for a special someone that could not only hit the bottom but give the sides hell as well.

Seriously, last year just plain sucked. The table was to long for us to communicate effectively and the food was horrible. Just not something I’m willing to do again.

I'll grant that Knott's isn't the "Ritz", but it seems to work well for most of the group - cost, location ...etc. I'm all in favor of doing something a bit fancier, but for some people the cost is prohibitive.

Plus, at Knott's there is the opportunity to do a little charity by participating in the Marine Corp. Toys for Tots drive. Since we're already there, it makes it easier for people to contribute. However, that doesn't mean it's the only opportunity to do that. There are plenty of places in everyone's neighborhood that get involved.

Moving on, the downside to the Cheesecake factory is that it gets extremely crowded, extremely noisy and they don't take reservations. IIRC, the last time we had the club dinner there, we stood around for at least an hour and only got a table because we put up a fuss. Large groups get put on the back burner and all the parties of 2-4 get seated first.

Once we were seated, it did turn out to be a good dinner because we ended up getting the upstairs room all to ourselves. If we could secure that same set-up again, without the hassle we had last time, I'd vote for Cheesecake - better food and location.

Bottom line – we have only 2-3 weeks until the dinner. It will either be Dec. 4th or 11th. The plan right now appears to be Knott's on the 4th.

If enough people want to switch to the Cheescake Factory, then someone needs to take quick action and see about securing the upstairs.

If I can give any imput and advice ( I eat out quite a bit) is that first off, I never go to any resturant and expect any kind of service on a Friday or Saturday evening. I will mostly dine fancy during a week night, It is much more charming and relaxed. If we are so doing this on a Saturday, then might I suggest we not go when the rest of the world is eating between the hours of 5:30 and 7:30. I would suggest we meet later at about 8pm for a more relaxed and better served evening fun.

Allen, try deleting your SC3G.org cookie on your computer and see if that lets you log back in and post on sc3g.org.

I concur. It's zero hour and it's now too late to be making changes. Knott's on the 4th it is. That's next week so everyone mark your calendar!

Just to let you all know, we have the option of holding the dinner on Tuesday 12/7 which is also a Toys-for Tots collection day. I'm sure it will be less crowded that evening than a Saturday or Sunday. Whichever night is fine with me. As I recall, we waited slightly over an hour last year.

Also an announcement to those that are attending our Christmas dinner for the first time and a reminder to those have previously attended. TDS will again be raffling off several hunderd dollars worth of products to those in attendance that evening. I'll be giving away a set of Alston SFC's, a TDS Steering Brace and a Jamex STB (long discontinued). It is my way of supporting the club and our web site. I'm glad that TDS isn't the only sponsor of the site any longer and look forward to what the other sponsors may be planning to contribute.

For those that live in the OC area, its probably doable, but for the rest of us Tuesday the 7th could be difficult. I know I wouldn't be able to make it.

Trying to get down to Buena Park from Venice on a week night would be quite the challenge. I could probably walk faster than the freeway would be moving. Not to mention I typically don't leave work until 6:00pm. I'd be lucky if I go there in time for next Christmas.
