Another awesome BBQ, as usual. Those who did not make it really missed out on some excellent food, good times, and a short hike to the Nojoqui trickle... err... falls.
Would have been nice if Dean, Mike, James, Ken, and Pablo had shown up, we could have all thrown down right there. I had the plastic mat, oil, lu.... ah, nevermind.
I'll put up some pics after I download them.

Your very welcome!
It's great to see everybody again.
Good thing the "bat cave" road wasn't very long.
I hope everyone made it home OK!

Gee. I really looked as silly as I felt!
I found some legends about the falls:

I wanted to be sure that I didn't upset any of the Chumash traditions by monkeying around there. I'm hoping it's good luck and my car will go faster at the track next time!

That was a long cruise, I show about 370 miles. Driving along the coast and then thru Fillmore to the 5 made for some pretty cool scenery.
The BBQ lunch was great, here's the cake..

I really enjoyed the day. Highlights were the great tri-tip BBQ and the beautiful cruise through the Santa Clarita valley at sunset. I had no idea that area existed. It made for a really nice end to the day. Those of you that didn't make the cruise sure missed out on a very nice day. The only thing that might have made it better is if the person that was supposed to bring sodas had shown up. You know who you are. None of us had a clue who it was supposed to be. Two bags of ice went wasted.
Dwayne, thanks again for hosting the BBQ and big thanks on the directions on getting us out of there without having to deal with Solvang's tourist traffic. Boy that old State Hwy sure could use a coat of asphalt! Oh and thanks for arranging to have the deer, squirrels, woodpecker, etc all show up for entertainment. Next time I'll bring the flashlight from my car so we can properly explore the cave behind the falls.

I did too. I just didn't have a clue that there would be a cave behind the falls until Julie crawled under there. I'm saving the exploration for our next trip up there.
BTW, that was a nice shot of my blue Adidas shoes.

Here are the rest of the pics. The first shot was supposed to be the deer in the shade under the tree in the back, but the eye is better than the camera. You cant see it unless you really zoom in.
Thanks to Dwayne and everyone else who helped make this event a lot of fun!

I'm not sure how your photo editor works, but I think you can zoom in to the shady area where the deer was resting. Then lighten the exposure until the deer becomes visible.Originally posted by Kevin91Z

Dwayne that was GREAT. Too bad that area is so far from us, we could do it more often. And the park is FREE and no gustopo.
Next time Julie and I will bring our thongs and flashlights and go exploring.

I can't point fingers. It happened to me within the past year on the Firebird. I hadn't taken the time to get a credit card plastic key made for it yet by AAA. At least the ignition wasn't on though. A quick call to AAA solved it. He'd have really been SOL waiting for a cell signal up there though. Thanks to some combined ingenuity and a fortunate find of that strip of aluminum all was fine. It just makes you sad to know how easy it is to break into our cars. My Mom locked her keys in her Volvo 740 turbo about 12 years ago. Both a AAA tow truck and a locksmith were unable to get into it. My Dad had to make an hour and a half trip down from Idyllwild with a spare set of keys. In a way it makes you glad that the vehicle is so hard to break into. Yes her ignition was on and the car running. Originally posted by madmax
