We had lots of fun. Did some boating and dancing. Of corse by me being a brutha I had to throw a little soul flava in the mix. Played Pool and Ping Pong and most of all showed Raider Ken his car runs like the Raiders (SAD). He doesn't have the power to keep up with me yet. He got walked on top end

Hmmmmm. That's what I get for leaving early. Missed out Ken/Vincent show. By the way I got great gas milage comming down the hill. Hehehe. Only down to 7/8 on the gage to my house. It was on the 1/2 mark at the lodge and I filled up at the first station out of Big Bear on the way back.

Vincent and Ken probably passed you on the way downhill, Allen! Well I'm glad the only thing that got hurt was Ken's feelings.

The trip was fun. It's always nice to drive up to Big Bear and it was even better to have a place to stop and unwind. I had fun playing pool in the rec room, and even stuck my feet in the jacuzzi. Next time I'll have to bring a bathing suit. The boat trip was memorable. Hope we do this again next year! Thanks again Don & family.

PS Allen you can pick up your 2-way radio from Don.

It was a lot of fun. A couple of slides down the Alpine hill in a toboggan, a few rounds of pool, boat trip on the lake, nice BBQ, Line Dancing lessons. Speaking or which, I must be getting old. I only learned 3 line dances (actually to be truthful two of the three I already had learned previously). I haven’t Line Danced in two or three years. I can tell. When I walked from my car to Vons to pick up an item my hips and legs were sure sore. It just reminds me that Line Dancing is good exercise.

My mileage isn't going to be as good as Allen's. He was behind me for part of the trip up the hill and noticed my car was spilling gas from the cracked filler neck every curve of the road. At $2.799 a gallon (Costco regular) I'm going to schedule with Don to get it soldered up soon. I thought the problem was only when the tank was full. I'm just glad I don't smoke!

Oh, forgot to add, TDS sold four items while I was out playing all day.

Lon

Puhlease....Walked???
My front end was to the middle of your front wheel, and that was it. You couldnt pull away though.
I'll admit you got me, but no one got walked.

However, I got bigger problems, now...
On the 605, my car started feeling twitchy, and makes a rattling noise. So i pull off the freeway into a gas staion to see if i can see anything, which i dont, so i decide to take it slow and jump back on the 605...but on the on-ramp something made a loud bang, and then grinding so i quickly oull to the side as i do, i see my rear wheel pass me up.
After waiting for a half hour in my car, praying no one rear ends me, the flat bed arrives.
It turns out two of the wheel studs broke off
Soooo, the damage still has to be assessed.
It was such a fun day before that...especially playing with David down the mountain and Vincent on the 215/60. And Vincent doing the "******* Stomp" (a line dance) was classic.

So, basically, it was a good day flushed down the toilet.

PS...DON, PLEASE CHECK pm

Downhill race? You guys are lucky I didn't show up. one of you may have ended up over the mountain side when your brakes overheated trying to hang.

I only race people on bicycles uphill.

Ken, Two of your wheelstuds broke so your wheel came off? What the heck happened to the other 3 lugnuts? And you are one lucky bastard that it didn't happen coming down the mountain road.

Cruise

Glad everyone had a good time

It was my pleasure being able to put it together.

It sure turned out great and they enjoyed having us so I'm sure we will be invited back next year

For all those of you that missed out...oh well maybe next time

All the cars made it up and down and it was nice meeting the new folks.

Hope Ken's problem isn't too serious and I can get him back on the road quick before anybody thinks they lost their spot Ha Ha!

Don>>>

lol, kens not the only one with problems... my front passenger side rotor decided to destroy the pads and get a nice groove in it... when i slam on the brakes i have to counter-steer so i dont make a right turn... fun fun... oh well, its just a few bucks for a new set of rotors and ive got lifetime pads @ autozone so im not too worried... but that brings me to another question... ive been a little distrusting towards eBay parts but i saw some cross drilled slotted stock sized rotors... are they any better than stock or should i not waste the extra 40 bucks they cost?

Dave, when you take the brakes apart, there will be some sort of "guide" that the caliper slides on. If you put a little never seize compound on the guide (just a thin coat you don't want any to get to the rotor surface), it will prevent the calipers from sticking and doing the same thing again.

Regarding the black wheels, I think Ken painted a set of Vette wheels black. I think those wheels are available in a painted finish, but are done in light grey. It may have simply been an unpolished satin finish. They could also be sent to a powder coater, but I don't think they are available off the shelf in black.

Man, it looks like we just missed the rain.

yes. yes we did... i was running carbon metallic pads and i switched to full ceramics and used that anti-sieze stuff and they are quieter and stop better... the old pads were all cracked and seperated from the slide though, that tells me excessive heat, so i either need to upgrade my fronts to cool better or convert my backs to disc... i think ill just upgrade all of it when i get the $$$.. but for now, i think those $80 cross drilled and slotted rotors from eBay might make an entrance on my front end, along with some new calipers, mine are still OE as far as i know...
