How To Get Ahead Of Vincent

Bwahahahahahaha. Here is my plan. It only cost money and Don's skills. Hehehe.

1. Mufflex 3.5" exhaust. Maybe 5HP
2. Comp Cams XFI268-13 cam. Easy 10 HP
3. Meziere electric water pump. Say 10HP
4. Port my Trickflow heads. Say 5HP
5. Convert to speed density/tune. 5HP
6. Dyno Don's 1 3/4" headers. Say 5HP
7. Bore to 355 cubic inches. Easy 5HP.

Item 1. The exhaust companies all say you should have a 3 1/2 inch exhaust above 350HP. Should be able to pick up 5 HP along with my Magnaflow muffler went it shows up.

Item 2. Comp Cams picked up 17 horsepower on the Dodge ram going from one size XFI to the next. 10HP should be easy with my cam upgrade.

Item 3. Meziere claims 15-16HP in their advertisements. I have seen people pick up around 10HP on the dyno in my searches for information.

Item 4. Most have picked up 20 CFM on the intake and more on the exhaust. Will go nicely with the new cam. Should be worth 5HP.

Item 5. Tune and free flowing intake system should be worth an easy 5HP

Item 6. Good for a solid 5HP. My SLP's 1 5/8" have dents restricting flow somewhat.

Item 7. Easy 5HP for the extra 5 cubic inches.

With a new torque arm and a good launch I should be able to get into the 12.2's if things go right. Hey with the chasis set up right, the stars are aligned, good atmospheric conditions maybe a 11.99 is in the offering. Nice to be able to sit here and dream.

I have to clarify on your #7. You dont gain horsepower because of the extra 5 cubic inches. The main reason for the results is the unshrouding of the valves from the bigger bore, and the minor increase in compression ratio if you keep the same type of pistons and gasket thickness. Stroke has a bigger influence on cubic inches.

Good luck Allen! I can see you getting a 12.2 corrected time, but Fontana is too unstable to get consistant ET's that low.

I have never personnally met Vincent, but I've seen his car at Don's and followed the smack talking on these boards. . ..

I had a guy with a 4th gen SS come up to me at Irwindale last night and tell me about a guy who had a car almost exactly the same as mine. He said the guy wouldn't leave him alone, he kept lining up against him and would red light to get a head start (the LS1 was on 100 shot). After a lengthy conversation and gathering some details about the thirdgen, I asked if the guys name was "Vincent" by any chance?

He said that's the guy and said he had the fasted "freaken" thirdgen that he had ever seen.

Vincent, the guy in the silver SS says, "Hi."

Ahhh, the good old days when Von Dutch was an artist who did cool graphics on cars. Not some group of yahoos who bought the rights to his name and churn out trendy clothes for the sorority/fraternity crowd.

Hey Vincent outside of Jerry who is in another league you have the top running car right now. When you are in front you set the standard and the goal to surpass. I would consider it a compliment and that was the intent. Allen

I will have to look into the Von Dutch sticker. You have to find horsepower wherever you can. Don says with the MSD sticker you loose horsepower. So I have to be carefull as to which sticker I choose.

By the way Don entered my "new" combo on the Desk Top Dyno and I have to say things look very promising. I was really surprised by the power gain of going from 1 5/8" headers to 1 3/4" headers. It was a little more than I had thought. Don has a very well designed set of headers with attention paid to the details and the horsepower increase on the Desktop Dyno may very well be real.

Yea I know the guy. I was on Khumos tires and he was on slicks. Of course I did an old school thing. He was cutting 1.70 60ft to my 2.05 60ft. On the motor his 60ft foot put him side by side with me but I started to pull away before the 1/8mi. He killed me with the 100 shot of NOS.

If you don't want the Von Dutch sticker Allen, I could really use it!
I can't afford any of the other mods I need!

We'll have to talk about the Von Dutch sticker at the Christmas dinner. Hey Julie you can have my short block when Don changes it out. It just needs to be re-honed and re-ringed. Comes with Kieth Black pistons and a ZZ9 style cam. Has been known to run a 12.73 and 105.85 in the quarter mile.
