Battle wounds.

Well I officially broke in my somewhat new paint job. Backing out of a tight narrow and deep driveway. I gouged the **** out of my front ground effects. DAMM. Now add the door dings that are starting to show up from parking in parking lots. I just gotta take a deep breath and say whatever.

I guess is time to pull some **** off and repaint.

I think I like Jay Leno's attitude. "You restore it to 100% and then drive it down to 70% before you start over." I thought Lon offered a metal skid plate that protects the bottom of your front gfx, but when I went to his site I didn't see it.

Still running the door trim, if not they will help out with the door situation.

I believe the peice you are refering to protects the black plastic air dam (air deflector) not the front valence or gfx.

Actually I've made prototypes for protecting both the front spoiler and the air dam below the radiator. I only made a couple of sets of prototype stainless steel skid plates for the spoiler. I installed one set on my Camaro a few years back. I checked it when I washed the car before our last meeting. It works OK, but doesn't protect the spoiler completely. I still got some scraping off of the paint from the front radius. I don't have access to the equipment that would be required to make these for production. It's too much of a pita to drill all the holes in the stainless steel.

Drilling stainless takes forever. I can't stand the smell of the cutting fluid. And the smoke, that stuff will kill you.

You just gotta be **** about how you drive the car. I have had my car back for a year, and the worst i have done to it was not catch a couple of water spots. Some lady backed in to my car, but thats a diffrent story

Anyway, i just got some rock chips but thats it. I park as far away from people as i can, and if i have to park close, i find the most expensive car to park next to. i take my driveway and dips at obnoxious angles to keep my front GFX looking like new

Those Battle wounds are very tough to beat.. Just think of it this way.. As long as you take good care of your paint job and get that repainted fixed etc.. You be o.k but I understand the feeling.. It's just not the same..

I been using Jass for my wounds of my Gfx's pieces.. For the front spoiler.. One wound was a tire hit me in the front and smacked the gfx's So I started playing with that Color Changing paint at first.. Thought I was going to swap out the 88 gfx's for the 92 but once I found out for it to look right... You need to change the bumper and everything back there just about.. So I said forget it and started to like the 88 again.. It's more based on what they built the platform from for the Iroc.. Why change it..

So Jass just pulls the front spoiler off and it's done in 2 days.. cost about 120 bucks.. Looked real nice until I screwed up again Atleast next time no color changing paint, he mentioned that stuff was a pita to remove..

You will need to cut the slots in the finders near the bottom for the tabs the '91-'92 's have.
