OK, My Z is having issues. Ever since I've owned the thing in July, it's had starting issues. I took it to our mechanic who my family has been going to for over 10 years and they supposedly fixed it. Said there was a short in the dome light...which was relating to the battery draining. Seemed fine and drove home. Few days later, guess what, she won't start. This was 5 months ago. I've taken it back there at least three more times each time seeming like it was fixed...only for it to crap out again. Very long story short...last week I had the ignition switch replaced and now the battery at least holds a charge. The car will turn over now without problems but is fighting to start..and when it does..it's running like crap. The battery has been checked and is good, starter is good, the injectors are new. I've had enough of these guys and I just want the damn thing fixed. Tell me where to go where I can have my car looked at by someone who knows what they are doing..Don's shop? If not where? Tell me who I need to call or something. I'm just a sophomore in high school and want to enjoy my car. I just got a job and would rather spend my money modding my car than dealing with this It's a real clean car I just can't seem to get past this problem. Unfortunately I don't really have the space to fix it myself nor the time with school and work. So

Thanks and sorry for the rant.

Alright, a little bit of an update, I ran some injector cleaner through her and she seems to be doing a bit better now. She seems to have a mind a mind of her own so we will see what happens.

Many times when the check engine light is on, the car wont start it is programmed that way especially if it's a late model third gen. Sometimes you have to keep clicking and clicking till it turns on, Im getting rid of the whole engine and wireharness getting a LT1 soon.

Well lately it hasn't been a problem of it getting started anymore..more of it bogging and idling cruddy until it warms up. Yesterday she started right up but immediately began idling at around 500 rpm, acting like it was already warmed up. Then of course after it was truly warm it idled at 750.

What shape are the spark plugs in? Plug wires?

I'd also check the throttle body for carbon build-up. Especially the IAC (Idle Air Control) module.

Give Don a call. He definately knows how to trouble shoot our cars. He is backed up for major jobs (engine builds, etc.), but he needs a few small quick jobs continously to pay the rent while doing the major jobs.

Sounds more like you're having issues with VATS, or the dreaded "starter not getting enough voltage because the wiring is sucking up the power" problem. A new key, or whole lock cylinder might fix the first problem, and the second problem requires a relay installed.
