T-56. Then you get two extra gears!

Sorry you're stuck with what you have.
Or go to a manual.

700r4's are actually decent auto tranny's. If yours still works, why not look into getting a 3:73 differential for more whiplash.

Your only problem is the 2.73 open rear end. For the money you'd spend on a set of 3.73 gears and a posi-unit (optional but recommended) you would spend less money buying another used rear end with better gears and posi.
You can upgrade it, its just cost prohibitive.

The best thing for him to do is Set up the transmission 1st with the proper gearing servo gears etc.. Then he needs to get atleast a Borg warner 3:27 or 3:45 If he is stuck with the 3:27 thats fine.. remove the trans and put in the Clutch and banner kit and all the other possible upgrades.. Things should improve.. But whats best is to overhual and upgrade the complete transmission.. If he is talking t56.. The upgrade would surely save a lot of money.. T56 and gears a 2:73 is not going to cut it..

What I did was buy all the parts online myself.. And I had a shop do the build.. Bench builds roughly range at 600.00 avg. plus the parts.. Formyself in my build I avg. that with a pump and bushing kit I needed at the shop I used plus my build sheet parts list.. Don has all acsess to getting parts also and better well known experience to assure your ordering the correct parts.. And who knows depending on your build sheet better pricing..
