SS Hood

Need some help. I've been searching trying to find a place local that has a SS hood for my 88. The only places I have seen so far that sell them are F-Body Motorsports and Hawks Third Gen, but they both are on the east coast and shipping would be too much for me.

Anyone know of a place that might sell them?

I think the only possibility would be Classic Industries. Lon at TDS doesn't handle body parts, and Thomas *** House of Camaro is only parting out used cars, not a dealer for new parts. The other possibility would be that a local speed shop that builds cars might be able to order one for you from the manufacturer, but you would probably still have to pay shipping. Also if it is something that the speed shop doesn't have a big call for, or doesn't do a lot of business with the company that makes the hood you want, the price will be quite a bit higher than someone that sells them nationally. You could also check with Unlimited Products at Fiberglass Cowl Induction Hoods and Parts from Unlimited Products but I didn't see anything like what you described on their web page, and you should know how to do some fiberglass work bfore you buy from them. Their stuff is primarily for race applications and the experience of those I know who have bought one of their hoods for street use have had the hoods warp in a few months. That isn't a big problem if you know how to reinforce a fiberglass hood before you install it. If you just bolt one on and it warps six months later, you can't fix it then, and your out the cost of the hood.

I hadn't seen any in Classic Industries catalog and couldn't find it online but I'll give them a call today when they open up.

I'll also try Fiberglass Trends. Not sure if they would be open on Saturdays but worth a shot anyways.

Classic Industries didn't have em, the rep I spoke with was kind of baffled that they didn't. Fiberglass Trends does for $450, which is the price anywhere else. I'll probably head down there sometime during the week then. Thanks Don.

Went down to Fiberglass Trends in Orage, talked to Matt. Ordered it and he said it should be done in 3-4 weeks, but said to check in 2 to see the progress on it. Saw the kind of work he does and I'm impressed. Saw a picture of the previous SS hood he did for a Third Gen, looked pretty good.

Thanks Don for the recommendation.

$450 without tax, so the total price tag came to about $484.88. Which is a lot better than paying $450 on Hawks or Fbody and then paying another $150 or so for shipping.

really? Well even though I'm waiting a little more time, I'm paying a lot less.

How long ago did you buy it and when is the expected delivery date?

Having to wait 3-4 weeks is actually a good thing for me, cause now I get time to save up more money for my paint job. And also prep my car.
