Howcome no cruises?
Hey guys,
I was just thinking about something today... Howcome the SC3G people or even Camaro enthusiasts in general never do any cruises? I was down by Laguna Beach earlier today and saw this long line of Mustangs/Lightnings all driving by, every year, make, and model was there. Even though i'm not a big fan of Mustangs, it was really neat seeing all of those cars driving by at once.
I would love to be a part of something like that. I have actually only been to one R&R meeting, but no offense guys, it wasn't really worth the 1.5 hour drive just to sit there and eat. I really like the knowledgable people we have in the club and the nice cars we have, but howcome we never do any cruises?
Now that I don't work on Saturday nights anymore I am interested in doing some things with the SC3G group again. I know I am a faceless person in the crowd, but I still think that my opinion should be heard. What are people's honest opinion on doing a cruise (even with some 4th gen guys, we shouldn't let the year difference form a barrier between all of us) or something different from the same month to month meeting?

Our next one will be a run up to Big Bear Lake for a Bar-B-Que at Don's time share at the end of Sept. They just did the "Rim of the World" cruise a month ago. There are a few guys who try to put on cruises in the city, but as far as I'm concerned a cruise through the city, any city, is too close to commuting. To each his own, though.
Make a plan and set a date. Check here for some ideas:

Remember a while back when I asked this same question? and my only responses were.. "It is really hard to keep 20 cars on the road and it would be best for all of us to park our lazy asses down and talk" as soon as I seen everyones reply on here I kinda just faded away from the idea, but a local TGO memeber posted some pics on here of a cruise in socal and I would really like this to happen again, but I dont think anyone wants to. Maybe because people are afraid something might go wrong with one of the f-bodies and will stifel the whole cruise and everyones fun. Nonetheless I would love to go on a cruise!!!!! I can only imagine the excitement and powerful feeling of seeing Chevrolets and Pontiacs in a convoy like cruise!!!

I think the last time we tried to set up something, too many people complained about the gas prices and said they would rather stay home.
Also, we plan things but its always the same 10-12 people who show up.
I'm trying to get something for the end of August, see this thread:

On a past Corvette, 4th gen., 3rd gen cruise thru Malibu we had someone (a 4th gen owner) run off the road and into a rut. Lon and I, plus a couple other 3rd gens., stayed with the disabled 4th gen. until the tow truck arrived. Didn't blow our cruise.

Im always interested in cruising, just would have to be on a friday evening or weekend anytime. I lived in Ohio for a bit and every weekend like clock work they would crusie around the same two blocks so bad it basically was like bumper bumper traffic and everyone would gather on the sidewalks, it was alot of fun and felt good to show off your car. Definitely let me know.

I think Cali is alot better for cruising anyways, I'd like to do a cruise one weekend up and down the PCH or something. As for where's Rosamond, it's like playing where's Waldo, literally hehe. It's in the Antelope Valley, Palmdale, Lancaster, Rosamond,(by Edwards Airforce Base), Mojave and Bakersfield is about 1 45 mins north of Rosamond. Anyways I think we should definitely do a cruise.
Thanks, I knew I had seen a sign for Rosamond somewhere in Ca. in my travels, but couldn't put a location to it. If I had had to guess, I would have put it in the valley somewhere between Bakersfield & Sacto, so I would have never found it! If you can make it to the cruise to Big Bear & bar-b-que, we have groups meeting in various areas of So Cal depending on who is coming from where, and then we get together at a park right off the freeway at Highland Ave just north of the 330 in San Bernardino. From there we drive up the mountain. The folks at the Lagonita Lodge open up all of the facilities for our use that day.

And I will show up. I really like getting together with people who share the same interests I do, but I just can't find the motivation to drive 1.5 hours out to R&R. I only really got to talk to Kevin, Julie, and Allen a little bit.

It's on the city streets where the police will cite you — Van Nuys Blvd., Sunset Blvd., Hollywood Blvd. ...etc.

Hell, let's do a PCH cruise or something.
I'm open Saturday and Sunday. Any time.
We should hold one maybe one month instead of doing the monthly R&R meeting, to ensure maybe some of the regulars would show up also?

The best road to have a cruise on is the Ortega Hwy. Once you get to the Riverside part its a really fun road. Every saturday i see tons of motorcycles on it and every once and a while I see a group of exotics. Only bad part is that it has a one lane road so when your stuck behind a slow car its real dangerous to pass. They got a couple look out points and a restaraunt in the middle.
I don't cruise in the city. I don't need to deal with traffic lights, etc. As I said earlier, cruising on city streets is too close to commuting. The only reason to cruise in the city is to get out to the country. If you try to cruise with more than about 5 cars in the city, traffic lights break up the cruise so that it is no longer a cruise.

Look at all the low post counts of these never befor heard of members that want to cruise but dont want to come to the meetings. If thay all came to the meetings it would be more fun if there was more intrest there would be more events but all of you people post hear and bit*h about wanting to cruise but thats all you dont want to do anything else but bit*h & cruise you should all sell your third gen's and get mustangs those clubs cruise all the time you would be happy there so if you dont want to attend the meetings beacuse there not worth the drive start your own club with a bunch of dumb @zz kids that all just want to cruise.

Thats a pretty bold statement. I think what Mike, is trying to point out is that he thinks there should be some sort of movement from our routine meetings and would probably want something different to do than just to drive 1 hour and park his car and eat and talk. He thinks it is a good idea to actually explore socal with friends while driving, I think since hes a young guy as am I we both would like to experiance something like this. We only live once, and there is few of us third genners now a days. Everyone is entitled to thier opinion, its just some make more sense than others. Unless the older third gen community members have a problem with hanging with a few 20 year olds!.... We can bring 20 year old girls if you want lots of em!!!

Also, John's post count isnt made up of "Why wont anyone talk to me and answer my questions?" type of posts.

I think there's a few things that happen on cruises:
Mountain cruise seems to end up in broken cars. Thirdgen, broken??? Nah... Never!
PCH cruise=bunch of little groups of cars, brake checks, etc. Too busy to keep a group together, even 12 cars.
Curvy road 'cruise' usually ends up with some (I will spare names to protect the guilty) who have forgotten where the brake is and have the go pedal pinned to the floor. Just keep the nose pointed forward if you're in front of me, ok???
I'm up for some canyon carving myself. If its a cruise, I'd rather wait until it cools off or I'm on the PCH bandwagon.

Thanks Kevin I agree Psycho_91Camaro is one of those little bit*h's I was talking about. His post count is high beacuse he has no knowledge of cars so he likes to post smilies. I personally enjoy hanging out with other third gen enthusiast. I think Psycho is one of those guys that would rather have big rims than a fast car. As for you have never seen me here befor I posted on your PAP thread about the price of what you were selling being stupid high so stop smoking so much weed and open your eyes a little and you will see me.

Well I don't know any of you personnally, however I more than down to do a little driving to meet some enthusiasts. However if I make the commitment to drive the meet seriously needs to last more than an hour. As driving for me in most cases is about two plus hours one way. However myc ar is down for the moment so count me out for at least another two months on group things. However after that I am more than happy to meet y'all.

And I don't know if you were referring to me, but I have suggested several times anything else but the R&R meetings. I have had to work Saturday nights for the past year or so so I was unable to attend the monthly meetings at R&R. I don't "just" want to cruise but was merely suggesting it as an alternative to the norm. I don't know why you get offended by that but if you weren't referring to me, then carry on........

Good one, Kevin
My Goal- have the convertible street legal by the time the Big Bear cruise comes around. This summer has been a bitch trying to find the time to tear into the motor.

I think this proves how something so simple can easily be blown out of proportion, the original questions was "How come no cruises?" in my opinion it was gauging interest in a cruise sometime, not all the sh*t talking and the complaining that no one shows up to the R & R meetings.......Just a reminder what the thread is really on....

i would think anywhere between seal beach and dana point on PCH would be doable, earlier in the day. mine heats up too much in the hills, and traffic in south bay is no fun.
fast car/big rims.. to each his own. it would be boring if everybody thought the same.
