Grrr... Sometimes people suck

I was driving through a parking lot a few days ago, when some joker in a silverado runs into me. I call the insurance and go through all their stuff... my insurance says he was at fault, but his insurance says i was at fault... So im gonna have to pay to get my car fixed cuz I dont have collision coverage, only comprehensive...
Damage is to both fenders (the other one tweaked), front bumper cover, and hood, not to mention anything under neither that cant be seen from the outside...
GRRRR.... that just makes me so mad, cuz I know he lied to his insurance so that he wouldnt have to pay
Dont you just hate people sometimes??

Try to see what your insurance can do for you. My insurance totaled my car because the body shop gave them a high quote to fix it. They then totaled it and gave me a check for the "value" of my car. Which of course was no where close to what I put into it. I even had all my receipts for the mods I had made (no wear and tear items either) but they didn't even take them into consideration. So I was left with two options:
1. Let them take the car and they would give me 300 dollars more than if I where to take it myself.
2. Take the car with a salvage title get what they think it was worth minus 300 and do all the work myself.
So ........
(drum roll please)
I took door number 2 !!
And to show how much of a scam those body shops/insurance companies are I was able to get a front bumper, rear bumper, spoiler, bumper brace that the hood actually latches to, two arm rests and a power bulge hood. Then I got local shop to straighten out the radiator brace and mounted the bumpers, hood, and that bumper brace. I did put the spoiler on myself though.. about 5 mins worth of work. The paint guy painted her up a deer blood red and bada bing bada boom all of this for HALF of what the body shop quoted the insurance. Granted I know the paint guy but still its the principle of the matter here!
So in the end I ended up getting it fixed and some change left over.... well I spent it on bigger brakes and rims
but the negative is salvaged title. I'm not planning on selling it anyhow.
How to obtain your salvage title certificate:
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/howto/htvr16.htm
How to register a salvaged titled vehicle:
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/howto/htvr13.htm
You will have to pass a dmv roadworthyness inspection if you want to apply for the salvage title and some insurance co.s will not give full coverage to a "salvaged" vehicle. Got to love it!

convince your insurance to fight it. just bc he told his insurance it wasnt his fault doesnt mean thats how it will end up. if that was the case no one would ever get insurance money.
i know I dont pay ridiculous insurance amounts to not receive the benefit when i need it.

I know that it's already been said but I can tell you from personal experience it won't take much damage to tag your ride with a salvage title and then you might as well comit to it because they are difficult to sell with a salvage title regardless of the actual condition. At times I search for just the right salvage titled car just because I know that you can get them for a song and a dance if the timing is right. I've had 4 or 5 third gen salvage titled cars hit in the front and insurance companies quoted out factory sheet metal, which put the damage well and above current market value and voila salvage title (fyi every one of them had a solid foundation, junk yard crawls, ebay, craigs list and the recycler took care of the rest) - so moral of the story - to salvage title or not to salvage title, that is the question!

Re: Grrr... Sometimes people suck
Well, the insurance company wont give me that option.
The other person's insurance is refusing to pay, saying 50/50, and now my insurance is accepting a 50/50 telling me that it is the best I could hope for.
So I'm just like, wtf? Why do I pay you every month if this is all that I am going to get?
So first it is a dumb *** in a parking lot, then now my insurance is telling me that they recommend taking the 50/50. That and if I want to persue it further, I have to contact his insurance because they say "You dont have collision coverage, so we cant legally file a claim with them"... is that
? I sure sounds like it to me...
They tell me, I have to call his insurance to file a claim, and if his insurance still refuses, then I have to take him to small claims court...
So my question is... Why the **** do I pay insurance for? And all because I dont carry collision coverage (even though I have everything else)?
I just am pissed
and confused
Ok... enough of my rant for now.
Thanks for listening,
-Tim-
P.S. Anyone got a set of IROC hood louvers or Z28 hood blisters for sale? When I bought my new hood, I got the IROC/Z28 hood, but now I seem unable to find anyone selling louvers or blisters for less than $100 each plus shipping... Hawks, FBodyMotorsports, Ebay.... Anyone got any?

I had the same problem, take the ***** to small claims court. Take lots of pictures and make some diagrams ( do a basic power point presentation)of the parking lot and explain what happened. You should prevail and get some money.
