the best $3 I've ever spent on my car

I've been looking for a soft automotive vinyl for the past few weeks, then I found what i was looking for. Anyway, I never liked my old, hard shifter boot; so I decided to redo it myself. I bought half yard of vinyl for $3, and I spent about 20 mins to cut and sew. what do you think??

by the way, I still have left over material to do another 5~6 shifter boots, and I am thinking about cover all plastic panels with vinyl

Re: the best $3 I've ever spent on my car

my next step is to figure out if it is feasible to do my ebrake handle and center counsel lid.

I was looking around I found some lady that makes those boots for $25. In my opinion, mine looks alot better than hers (especially for diy guy)

Ok , I am going to be a very nice guy today, and i am going to offer 3 shift boots for FREE. i can drop them of at Don's shop if he does not mind, or you can pick it up at my house. you have a choice of: red stitches, black stitches, or no stitches. Also keep in mind those boots are replica of Camaro manual tranny's shifter boot, and I am not sure if it fits Firebird.
if you like to get your free boot, just reply to this thread and make sure you're one of the first 3 replys requesting free boot. it may take me up to a month to finish them, depending on my time schedule.
later, Ivan

Ivan,

That looks smooth with the red stitching. Matches your car. Do you know if it would fit the automatic (700r4)? Good work man.

Well heck, for free I'll take one with red stitches. I'd even buy you lunch when you drop it off.

If you do the emergency brake handle too, I'd love one of those.

Re: the best $3 I've ever spent on my car

I would like to thank everyone for their nice compliments.

Kevin, I am almost positive that I can do the e-brake handle in two different methods. I will try to work on it this weekend and see how it goes.

Rabi, I can do one for Firebird automatic, but I need to see your shifter boot so I can duplicate it.

Samiam, this button is for the LC1 wideband calibration

I could use one for a 1987 Pontiac Trans AM GTA. But I probably don't live anywhere near you, unless I would pay to have it shipped to me. I would want the black stitches.

He's talking about his wideband O2 sensor.

I forgot to mention, mine would need to be an inch shorter, as I have my line lock button on the shifter.

You could make money doing this on the side. I don't really need one now, as I'm getting a new console shift etc. for my 87 GTA. It will have the red indicator to tell what gear you are in, which from what I have read the 87 GTA's didn't have. It will now though.

Re: the best $3 I've ever spent on my car

it's good money if i decided to make them. my cost is about 50 cent + 20 minutes labor, and I can easily sell it for $15. But I have no interest in doing it.
