Help Me

So I just swapped out my 305 from my 1987 Iroc-Z with a 1989 Vette 350. I used the same wire harness and when I tried starting it with the 89's computer it doesn't start. So I hooked up the 305's computer and it started up, but the service engine light came on. People were telling me it's because of VATS. So what should I do to get around the VATS? Or should I just get a custom programming on the 305's computer to work with the 350?

I'm new to a lot of this, any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Help Me

The reason I posted this here is if I decide to get a custom prom I want to know where to go around Los Angeles.

Re: Help Me

I'm not sure on the years or if all Corvettes used the aluminum heads until they switched over to the Lt1 engine, but the corvette L98 engines used aluminum heads that did not have any provision for egr passages in the heads. The Corvette runs an external tube from the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold on their tpi system. If you didn't hook up egr, you will throw a code. For your custom chip, pm Kevin91Z. You can buy "custom chips" anywhere, but if it is off the shelf, it is not custom, just "snake oil" for an exhorbitant price.

Re: Help Me

I read in your other thread you have both chips? Send me one of them and some money and I can can burn you a chip to get the car started. Then you can drive it to me and I will finish the tune and get it running awesome.

Send me a message off-list (email or PM) and we can discuss it.

Re: Help Me

But I used the exhaust manifolds off my Iroc so what should I do?

I'll talk to Kevin to work that out.

Re: Help Me

Definitely talk to Kevin for a custom tune, it will be needed. Keep us posted, I have the same set up and will eventually like to get it custom tuned as well.

Either get the Scoggin Dickey EGR kit plumbed into your manifolds, or get a set of Dyno Don headers with the EGR kit installed like I used to have, and Julie now has.

Re: Help Me

I was in a similar situation a few years ago with the vette heads, and I know Kevin and Don can take car of you. If you have the cash I would definitely pick up some of those headers with the PROM, then drive out and get it tuned.

Re: Help Me

If I had the cash I would definitely do that but this swap put me in a bit of a hole. My next thing for the car is headers so I will work that out when I have the money.

How much is it for Dyno Don's headers?
