Brake line fitting size?...

One of my Earl's brake lines snapped last night on my GTA. Driver side front broke at the caliper fitting.

One option is to replace them with the Goodridge lines. However, I'm looking on the Baker Precision Web site and might go with the Aeroquip brake lines that come pre-assembled with female -3 AN fittings.

The only other pieces I would need are the correct adapter fittings to attach the hoses to the calipers and the hard lines. I know what size caliper adapters I need, but I'm not sure off-hand what the size of the fitting is on the hard line.

Does anyone know?

This approach is actually looking like a better and more durable solution. It's also looking like it could be cheaper.

TIA!

I think it is 10x1.0 i.s.o. bubble.

I have had three of those break, I went back to using the rubber lines.
After all, they have been good for a 100 years on cars without issues.

The caliper adapter is 10mm x 1.0 for sure. I'll see if I can confirm that for the hard line.

I've had a Russell line break and now an Earl's. There's a shop close to me that specializes in fabricating lines and hoses, using primarily Aeroquip components. They made a couple custom brake lines for the rear axle in my car and I used them to buy the pieces for my custom power steering lines.

In the past, they've told me they see a lot of snapped Russell and Earl's brake lines. According to the shop, these companies use too small of a nipple on their fittings. Once the steel braided line is crimped on to it, it can snapped it when stressed.

By using the line with -3 AN fittings and adapters, there's no nipple that can break. It would be like any other braided hose you would have on say an engine. All stout threaded connections.

The last one broke right in the middle of the line.

I went ahead and ordered some Wilwood -3 AN flex brake lines and the adapter fittings from JEGS. Gonna give it a try.

I've never had any trouble with the lines themselves. It's the fittings Russell and Earl's use that keep breaking.
