I'm getting all warm and fuzzy reading this. Awesome times guys! Jerry, 47 on street tires is flat out amazing. You were on street tires right?
Did the guys there have anything to say about it? Import guys musta **** themselves.
I know that road runner. The guy is a Marine that works at my old squadron. I never got to personally meet him but I saw his car all the time. I've even seen it in car craft magazine. Kinda funny how much he drives it, my buddy sees him at almost every qualcomm autox.

ok, now I don't feel so bad.
How can they allow a vehicle without floor boards to race. Esp since every vert needs a roll bar.
Guys that race a lot do get quick. At the autocross event a few years ago I let one of the volunteer instructors drive my car and he knocked almost 10 sec off my time. I think its 90% knowing the track as he probably had driven it 10 times already that AM and I got 3 laps.
I should have stolen Chris's Mustang and taken it out there. That thing is like on rails too. It requires a kidney belt or a P tube also.
I just watched the video, they changed the track, no chicane at the stripe. That's 2 or 3 sec faster right there.

The "new black stripes installed" were Mike as he laid it out into a very high angle drift coming onto the front straight as the left rear fender "kissed" the tire barrier sweetly like the pro drifters do for style points. He came out of that with a little trophy of a black stripe that rubbed right off with a little elbow grease but was completely on the track surface at all times.
Tom, You missed the first annual Tom F. cupcake eating contest. We thought we had it documented on video for posterity....but **** happens. Man were they good. (ps- it you ever challange Grey Goose to an eating contest, check the back side of his food- his tank was almost half empty at the gun. Hard to eat fast when you are spitting the words cheater and laughing while trying to demolish a cupcake.

I’m going to look for the videos from that day and post them. Talk about a great day!I can neither confirm nor deny that the afore mentioned ‘cupcake eating contest’ ever took place moreover someone’s strategic removal of the back half of said ‘cupcake’. However much like my driving style (10 & 2 65mph) should I ever participate in something like this rest well knowing that I will hold the cupcake differently so no one can see that I’m cheating… LOL

ROTFLMAO
Thats the first I've seen that video.
Thank you mike for always showing by best runs. AO LOL
Actually come to think of it that probably was my best run as on the 3rd run I tried, unsuccessfully, to do a 360.
On Mikes 3rd run thats a quick glimpse of Chris with the primered front fender.

I dug up some more old footage of running my Vette at Irvine Meadows SCCA back in 1993.
40 seconds into this run you can see me throw the car into a corner sideways and drift the entire sweeper. These were times runs. What I do not have footage of was when later in the day after the racing was finished we would do "fun runs" for a buck ewach and I would "stunt car drive" the entire courses like that - I inadvertantly started this drifting craze 20 years ago- wish I could find footage of that.

My next run that same day.

I need to get some rubber for this car and get it out to Adams. The track is a little on the small side for this but it would present oone hell of a show there. I would light the damn thing up down every stright section since the speeds are too low for the powerband. Most of these videos you are watching I am in first gear 95% of the time. The car does 70mph in 1st and it really takes about 20mph to engage the clutch.
PS- that Irvine Meadows/ Lion Country Safari parking lot was one BUMPY parking lot. Not the best place to be holding SCCA events. I also do not have power steering on this car- It has never had it. All steering imputs are done with good ol' muscle and throttle imputs. Talk about work. Also- The car is fully muffled with Glaspacks in the Hooker sidepipes. You should hear this thing uncorked. We won the open header contest in this car recently at Route 66 carshow in San Bernadino in 2008 (Loudest street car in So Cal 2008).
This car is WIDE. 6" wider than my full size truck when I have the race wheels on it. You can see the smoke coming off the tires through the slalom section of the course every time I blip the throttle
