I take it the track is a little rough on tires?

Probably use up a lot more tire doing burnouts for a ~12 sec run. These laps are 50-60 secs for our cars and 6-9 laps (depending on how you run the warm up and cool down sections) for $23. Lot more bang for the buck.
Re: Time Attack at AMP on 7-27
O.K. so what flavor do you want.
The So cal TPI picnic is getting 3 different ones.
One of them is a Peanut butter pound cake, a light chocolate cream cheese filling, chocolate butter cream icing with peanuts and Carmel drizzle i think. The other ones will be a surprise.

I'll pass on the peanut butter (for some reason I only like peanut butter sandwiches) but the rest sound yummy.
Probably be a little stale by the 27th.
Re: Time Attack at AMP on 7-27

All of Cindy baked good are made just hours before needed (or less), just like the ones for tomorrow will be done tonight and in the morning.
Good to know about the peanut butter.....Was just seeing if you had a favorite flavor.

My favorite is chocolate with white frosting, probably because my Mom and Wife never got creative with deserts. Good cooks, just not creative.

I'm not sure what they call them, but don't use those offset bearings/seals that are used when the axles have a age groove worn in them. They don't seal.
Get new axles.
And the disk brake axles have a smaller lug flange then the drum brake. A lathe can cut down the flange.

I was telling Mike that they remember us, as soon as I got there they said "weren't you one of the guys that was here a couple of weeks ago with all those muscle cars?"
Thanks Jerry, I'll give you a call when I get a chance. Re: Time Attack at AMP on 7-27
My car is ready, so who is in for this. We need a head count to know how many cupcakes to make.
I will be out for the first and last group.

There's no point in putting my car on the track because all I'm going to do is stack sub par numbers until I get some rubber under the car. However I'd be happy to come out and support the cause

Chris is 2200 miles away so he won't be coming.
I better opt out as I have a proposal to get out, I would say maybe but hate to have Cindy go to all that work and me not show up. Work getting in the way of fun again.

I got my V700s mounted - treadwear 60
I still have a left rear axle seal leak though and thus no functioning left rear brake. I have the parts, if anyone wants to show up and swap out the seals while I sleep I won't mind.
Just started a new job today so no idea on what time I'll be getting out of there. Gotta make a good first impression. Probably unlikely that I'll go but we'll see.

Sorry Jerry, Since I haven't worked now for over 5 months due to the bad economy and my back injury, I am afraid to report I do not own a vehcile any more. I may be headed out of state if this keeps going this badly.
Re: Time Attack at AMP on 7-27
Yea, Dean i think the economy is knocking on my door. some of my coworkers have made the move to Oklahoma and i might not be far behind them.

Dean, you are not alone. I know of a few people that have had to leave the state to find work. One guy I know of in construction is now working in Las Vegas of all places to find work. Comes home on the weekends. My daughter has found work in Minnesota. And on the list goes.

Re: Time Attack at AMP on 7-27
Actually tonight is the second night in the Time Attack Consistency Series (June 22, July 27, & August 31) and the run times are:
1st – 6-7PM
2nd – 7-8PM
3rd – 8-9PM
These are the only three dates that the run times deviate from the July – September Summer Schedule. So tonight the first run is only for one hour instead of the normal hour and a half. I’ll still bring my helmet with me.

Great time! theres nothing better than a bunch of guys talking suspensions with the smell of gas, tires, and sparking brakes. Oh yea and delicious cupcakes. we gotta do it again soon.
Re: Time Attack at AMP on 7-27
Also race track installed black stripes, a spin out and a 47.75 lap time. I did two of the three care to guess what two i got and who got the other one.

The first group had 8 Camaro's and only 3 Miata's in it, it also had a 69 road runner, 32 Ford, G8 and a Ford F150.

Congrats. All that American iron, cool.
Re: Time Attack at AMP on 7-27
I ran the 47.75
The best times of the night
Green civic 46.52 with slicks
Black M3 47.58
Red Miata 47.62
Red Camaro 47.75
The one that got me was the 69 Road runner at 48.72 or the 50s Ford F150 at 49.25
That's a lot of old time steel going fast.

Thats a great time Jerry
The Road Runner and F150 doing those times sure embarrasses me and the GP.
I wonder if those guys have a resume like yours.

Re: Time Attack at AMP on 7-27
Ok, so… I wasn’t planning on running last night but when I got to the track Dean and I started talking about vehicle setup and the next thing you know the car is up in the air and Dean’s turning wrenches. So needless to say I ended up running in the 1st session. The car immediately responded to the tweaks and as a result I netted a new best time of 52.06. I don’t think there is much more in it with the current setup/tires however once we get a few key components sorted out; it’s going to have a completely different personality
Dean I really appreciate the insight and time you spent on my car. You are a consummate professional in every sense of the word. Thank you.
I wasn’t planning on running in the third session until an amazing opportunity presented itself, a sponsored session courtesy of Cindy Meyer (Thanks again! …and those cupcakes were simply scrumptious!) and the opportunity to make a run Jerry’s car. This is hands down the absolute best handling 3rd gen I have ever driven and I have driven my fair share of ‘built’ cars! The way this car sticks to the ground is R-E-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S!!!!! My first time ever driving the car and running ultra conservative I took a full second off of my time in my car! This car is just as sticky as the 97 C4S I used to own! I WANT ONE!!! Thanks again for the opportunity Jerry it was a real treat. Oh, and I’m just a phone call away if you ever need me to babysit your car while you’re out of town
Word is getting out guys; the American Iron is becoming more and more prevalent with every session…

Sounds like the RoadRunner that was at the GoodGuys meet at the OC Fairgrounds in May.

I'm a little partial to them since I had a '68 GTX many years ago.

The Road Runner was a Hotchkis employee or something like that and it was a pro-tour car for sure, very nice with the 3 foot tall stickers on it. The F150 was a high dollar tube chassis truck. The 4 of the 5 1st gens are 50 to 100k aftermarket cars very few or no GM chassis parts on them.

Alot of money out there, but the only thing really surprisingly turning good times other than Jerry was the 68 Road Runner- I wish I had my own stop watch to time it because I really think it was not that fast. The four of use stood there watching it compared to other cars and it juest did not show the numbers they were announcing- I don't want to sound like a hater, but sometimes things just make you wonder about who is running events and what friends they might have that are being scratched. Jerry looks ALOT faster than that 68 Plymouth.Where the Road runner was shining was down the straights, it had alot of power which is quite obvious for a car of that nature.
Mike, Thank you- and your welcome.
