Just a quick observation
I stopped for gas after the dyno session yesterday and when I pulled in to the pump there was a rather large gentleman refueling his BMW.
I couldn't help noticing his eyes were on the car constantly while I was refueling the beast.
He was checking the car out and giving the me the once over.
When I finished, I jumped in the car hit the key and it sprang to life, the guys eyes got as big as saucers, he contined to stare as I rolled to the driveway, I then gave it a few revs and proceded to accelerate down the sreet, I would have loved to seen his eyes at that point.
Obviously a 3rd gen enthusiast

I notice people looking as they drive by or if I drive by them I always see them looking back. Usually guys or kids; women don't seem to care too much
These cars just have " the look" ...... The phone guy was working on out phones at work today; he saw my car sittin outside and started telling me how good it looked and how nothing today looks that good anymore. People notice and usually like our third gens.........

"I had stopped to top up the tank on my Beemer, when this guy in a classic Trans Am pulled up to a pump close to me..
He was really checking out my refined piece of sophisticated Bavarian machinery.
Almost figured him for gay, until I realized he was checking out my car.
When he was done filling up his puny tank, he took off, tires screaming, while looking at my car in the rear view mirror
, and I figured him again as a gay show-off... Or maybe he was just envious of my BMW...?"The thing I really can't get over is putting a fuel tank as small as that in a car like the Trans Am. It's like GM were mocking: "You can buy our performance car, but you can only perform for a little while, and then you have to pull over for gas."
Seriously, he probably just loves cars, just like me.
I currently have a 1990 BMW, a 1985 T/A, and a 1994 C4 Corvette.
I just love them all, but they can't really compare even though they are all quite similar

"and from my perspective" I thought, who would drive such an expensive piece crap when he really idolizes such a fine classic, such as he was gazing his eyes upon?
Lest he can only think "this thing really does "Break My Wallet".

Re: Just a quick observation
I've owned a few BMWs most recently my 98 E36 M3. While they don't make huge hp #s or are meant for drag racing, they are sure fun to drive. Their fit and finish is great as of the interior, it's clearly set for being built around the driver.
If GM could take one thing from BMW I would they take a lesson in building a car around the driver. They could also use BMWs wire connectors.
Not sure really why people are against BMWs and think people who drive them are pompous or stuck up, the older cars are fantastic easy to fix, I could change the oil and spark plugs in my M3 in 15min due to great placement, and they are not all that expensive to fix.
However, I sold the M3...... And bought another thirdgen, for a reason. The style and presence of the 92 Camaro is just awesome in my book. You really can't compare the 2 since both were built for different purposes.
But I'll say this, you dont see any cup holders in my thirdgen, that's a car to be driven in my book
