Could someone please tell me if:
1) In 1988 all IROC-Z (Borg Warner 9bolt) would have came with an Aluminum Drive Shaft?
2) What the RPO Code is for an Aluminum Drive Shaft?
TIA!

Awesome thanks Bret!
Now would that RPO code still be the same in 92?

Mine didn't. I have the G92 suspension option w/3.45 9-bolt. But it didn't have the aluminum driveshaft. I'll check the option codes when I have a chance.

Maybe its just the IROCs that came with the so called "performance package" rearend of a Borg/Warner 9 bolt with 2:77?

2.77 gears is not the performance package. The G92 package is 3.27/3.23 gears in the 350 TPI automatics, and 3.45/3.42 gears in the 305 TPI 5-speeds. It also included dual cats in 89-92 models. But the JG1 aluminum driveshaft was a separate option, not part of G92, and not standard. I dont know what triggered it, but it seems to have come on a lot of 88 cars.

Lon,
You have an RS so I'm not too suprised you didn't get the aluminum d-shaft. Most of the IROC's should've had it.

And yes Randy, the RPO code should be the same for all years.

Kevin, I know the 2:77 was not the G92 package but when I looked it up in vintage 88 GM literature believe it or not GM classified the Borg Warner 9 bolt with 2:77posi unit as a "performance package" quite laughable I know that's why I always put it in qoutes Bret I think Lon is talking about the 88 IROC he has as not having the aluminum drive shaft. Right Lon?
